International Nurses Day 2026 - Meet our Blood Cancer UK nurses

It’s International Nurses Day! So it feels like a good moment to introduce (or re-introduce) some of the faces behind our Blood Cancer UK nursing team.

Our nurses have worked across hospitals all over the UK and now bring that experience here, to help us all navigate blood cancer and all that might entail. If you’ve been on the forum for a bit, you’ll probably have come across them already; they’re the ones stepping into threads to answer clinical questions, and bringing some expert medical grounding to a conversation at exactly the right moment.

You can talk to these brilliant experts on the forum, or 1:1 via our free Support Line on 0808 2080 888 (option 1) or by emailing support@bloodcancer.org.uk.

Say hello to a few of the team! :backhand_index_pointing_down: @BloodCancerUK_Nurses

I love this @Ceri_BloodCancerUK, thank you for drawing attention to our amazing nurses on this day celebrating them. It is indeed lovely to put faces to names!

My mum was a nurse and I think that’s why I have a soft spot for you all doing this incredibly caring, difficult work which I imagine is not often glamorous but is so essential.

Personally I want to thank all of you I’ve had the pleasure and good fortune to receive advice and support from, I’m really so grateful to you being here and supporting us around the forum and beyond.

Your work is so important and, speaking from experience, just a kind word of advice from you can keep forum members going when we’re dealing with unthinkable worries.

So, thank you dear @BloodCancerUK_Nurses! You are much appreciated :mending_heart:

Oh @Ceri_BloodCancerUK what a day to really celebrate.

Yes, it is great to have a face to a name and I also want to re-iterate what everyone has said, we are so, so lucky to have each and every one of you.

You have been there informing, caring and supporting me through the good and bad , high and low times that I have had.

A great big thank you and virtual hug to you all.

I also want to put a great big shout out for my wonderful GP nurses, who I also love, and have supported me through so much, especially with the skin cancer on the top of my head. I really love going to see them even though they usually stick needles in me.

I will raise my hot chocolate to you all tonight.

I can’t count the number of times I suggest it would be helpful to speak to one of the nurses to forum members so yes really nice to see everyone here, you are all fantastic. Thank you for all you do.
