Travel tips and travel insurance - do you have any tips to share?

Hi Kevan7, I only needed uk travel insurance because the hotel I had booked had to be paid in full 8 weeks in advance!! Its not really for medical treatment but insurance against cancellation for any reason plus covid cover.

Hi Muzza and Cid…thank you for the recommendation of Insurance with…I managed to get the uk single trip policy with them. They were really helpful and I will certainly go back to them if we are in a position to go abroad later in the year. Thanks again to both of you for the advice xx

All Clear or Stay Sure are pretty good. Also often they will only quote for a single trip not annual insurance.

Have tried them both and the estimation was enormous

Sorry Colin. Unfortunately I think companies often think we are risk for cancellations/making claims so quotes tend to be high. You could ask for a lower quote excluding cover for blood cancer but that’s a bit risky as insurance companies would try and link any claim to blood cancer and not pay out potentially.

Oh @Colin sorry the estimates were enormous, yes, unfortunately we are classed as high risk especially after being classed as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable during Covid.
Look after yourself

Try insurance with. I have a family annual policy it cost £350 which I thought was good considering I was only about 5 months post stem cell transplant when I took it out and.

On @Muzza’s excellent recommendation, I have just got insurance for a 3 week holiday for a family of three - with extra departure/flight disruption insurance, because of the airport chaos predicted to run into the summer - for just £188! I used Insurance With’s website, which asked me comprehensive questions about my past Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, stem cell transplant and chemotherpay-induced cardiomyopathy, so I am confident they have a thorough grasp of my medical history - and the website is slightly cheaper than buying it over the phone. I think £188 is very reasonable to cover someone with a medical situation like mine, and my family and the possible disruption over the summer. Thanks, @Muzza.

Hi @Alice_BloodCancerUK
Do you still need blog pieces for how people are coping with getting on with living, at this stage of the pandemic? I meant to help, but had a busy week - and now can’t find the details.
All the best.
