Hi @Regal76, a great big welcome to our forum. Unfortunately I cannot help you medically and a high platelet count I believe might be for many reasons.
You can search the internet for information.
What we can support you with is the obvious fears, worries and concerns you must have and especially being a parent of such a young son. I expect you have so many thoughts and emotions going around inside you and many of us know those thoughts and feelings too.
Please take loads of care of yourself and please let us know how you and your son are doing.
Hi @Regal76 I’m so sorry you’re going through this worrying time. How are you doing at the moment? Has your son’s medical team advised around any next steps which may need to be taken, with regards to further investigation into this?
It’s so understandable you have questions around this. It’s important that the cause of your son’s high platelet count is investigated so that he gets any treatment and care that he may need.
If you have worries about blood cancer, here is information around the standard tests used to diagnose or rule out blood cancer, here in the UK - https://bloodcancer.org.uk/understanding-blood-cancer/tests-diagnosis/blood-cancer-tests/
We also have information around symptoms of blood cancer, here, in case it’s useful for you to read through - https://bloodcancer.org.uk/understanding-blood-cancer/blood-cancer-signs-symptoms/ It’s important your son’s healthcare team are aware if he’s experiencing any of these symptoms, or if he is experiencing anything that is unusual for him at all.

Thankyou for your kind words of support , I have booked my son into a specialist clinic and have managed to get a flight to Gambia next weekend . So may have some answers very soon . Hospitals are not very good in the Gambia lack of investment etc , so have managed to get him into a hospital in Senegal . I will keep you informed. Thankyou once again.
Very glad to get your update @Regal76. You sound better now that you have more aspects organised, you have done so well it cannot be easy at such a distance. Yes, please let us know how you and your son get on and take lots of care and stay safe.
