I am a retired manager. I took early retirement in my 50’s due to the blood cancer which affected my kidneys. I am married with three grown up step daughters and 5 grandchildren. I was diagnosed in 2006 and had a stem cell transplant in 2007. Although I have been in remission since the cancer affected my kidneys so that in 2008 I started on Peritoneal Dialysis. I do this at home every night whilst I am sleeping. Amazingly I go on holiday and the NHS sends all that I need to the hotel. I was initially very weak and was in a wheelchair. However I was determined to get fit again. I now do tai chi and Zumba as well as walking, though much shorter distances than before.
