Diagnosed with CLL in 1997, first treatment with Fludarabine in 2002. Then 2003 with chlorambucil. Complete Remission 2003-2015. Took up running in 2002 and entered first Great North Run *half marathon) in same year, and every year since, Completed first marathon at London last year, now hoping to do further marathons in future to raise money. Started clinical trial with ibrutinib in December 2019. Experienced some side effects which prevented me running but now improving.
I have been fundraising for Blood Cancer UK ever since 2002, mainly by running events, and in December 2019 became an ambassador. I am determined to do all I can to help by raising awareness of blood cancer and sharing my story with others. Hope to inspire others to exercise as a way of fighting back against blood cancer.
