90yr old grandma with possible Myeloma

Hello again @Hope2026, I’m really sorry that your grandmother had blood cancer confirmed. Sounds like her testing was pretty swift, which I’d say is helpful when faced with such tough results.

I think having a chat with the Blood Cancer UK nurses, like dear Nurse @Emma_BloodCancerUK who replied above, would be really helpful at this early stage after your grandmother’s diagnosis. Their expertise can point you towards resources for supporting your grandmother and you at home, ideas for your own self-care, and links to other organisations. Their free number is 0808 2080 888 and if the technical issue is still apparent then do please leave a message and you’ll be called back.

I wonder if you have a Maggie’s near you? I’ve heard great things about them: https://www.maggies.org

As you said your grandmother has received a diagnosis and myeloma was mentioned previously, here is the Blood Cancer UK information about myeloma: Myeloma | Blood Cancer UK and from Macmillan: What is myeloma? (Multiple myeloma) | Macmillan Cancer Support

Here is a link to Myeloma UK who have specialised information: https://www.myeloma.org.uk and specifically for family such as yourself: For family and carers - Myeloma UK

I imagine that’s more than enough to be looking through for now and I’d say take your time as there’s a lot of medical language and emotions with all this, remembering my own period of diagnosis. Your self-care is important now too so please reach out to loved ones to support you, like you’re supporting your grandmother.

When you’d like to reach out to others around the forum then do have a look using the search box at the top. You’ll find threads from supportive forum members like this: Whether to start treatment for MM

Please keep us posted and do consider calling the Blood Cancer UK nurses and asking for a callback @Hope2026, I’m sure it would help.
