A pity party invitation

I hear you on the looking well thing. Technically I suppose I do but I always experience some pain and discomfort every day and it’s hard to completely blot your condition out of your every day life.

Hi All

After a day in bed and not getting dressed (exactly what you are told not to do but this is the first time I have given in) I do feel better. Happy birthday to your son Erica, another Scorpio, it is my birthday tomorrow, I shall be an old lady of 78. Inside I am not nearly that old, shame about the outside. Actually I am told I don’t look that old, the nurse in haematology thought I had told her the wrong birth date, she asked my daughter to confirm it. I did have the mascara and lippy on, but am allergic to makeup, soap and water girl, that’s me, no lotions or potions, or rather I am a ‘Doublebase’ cream and water girl as now seem allergic to most soaps.

Am watching Paul McCartney on the box, memories of my youth, the Beatles, Cliff Richard and the Shadows, I also adore Queen, Trying to listen to the Sunday afternoon top of the pops countdown on your battery radio. Babychams to drink with a cherry on a stick, hate them now. Prefer a G and T, or Bristol Cream Sherry. We used to starch our frilly petticoats with a sugar solution to keep the layers stiff. Tight waists, full skirts and excruciating winklepicker shoes. Bouffant backcombed hair, lacquered to a stiff helmet. Mascara was a hard block which most people spat on to mix it with a little stubby brush, no sophisticated wand costing the earth then. We always wore little white gloves and had little clutch bags. Enough reminiscing it is what old people do though. Marylin

Oh Marylin the memories you have brought back, I remember it all.
We had a lovely time withy my son, socially distanced and consumed Sainsbury’s coffee and walnut cake and hot chocolate this morning.
I share your taste in music.
My poor feet remember the sling back winkle pickers so well.
Yes, that spat on black block mascara, yuk.
I used to get stockings with a diamond pattern on them from Woolworths.
I had a Roberts radio and awaited 7pm for Radio Luxenberg to start.
I also had a boyfriend who when we broke up ran away to the pirate radio station Radio London and got sea sick and was sent home.
My father wouldn’t let us watch the Rolling Stones on TV.
Thank you you have made my day, I could go on and on down Memory Lane.
A great big happy birthday for tomorrow, enjoy your day and we await hearing about it.

Thankyou for your welcome words. Take care and stay safe.

Hi

We are apparently having a covid panic again, my covid swab and venesection next week, have been cancelled and rebooked for the day after Boxing Day, That’s Bank holiday I said, we are restarting then she said. Pity I was all organised to get it done. Now it will. Be looming all over Christmas and I will have to spend ages on the phone to re arrange everything.

I have decided everyone will be getting online cards this Christmas. Just a number of clicks and it is done. I would rather give the postage costs saved to a charity, and it will help save a tree. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it. my granddaughter came this week and put up and decorated our tree, all very festive. It is kind of her to do it as she does the same for her other grandparents. Christmas shopping has been done mostly online, in fits and spurts when I felt like it. Just need to start wrapping, need a couple of elves really.

Poor Bill fell over this morning and demolished both my plastic wash baskets. But better them than he hurt himself. No harm done to himself, thank goodness. We will replace them tomorrow. He broke a loved Spode mug this week too, it didn’t bounce. I think we need to go for a cheaper crockery if they are not bouncing. Had a whole glass of Sherry knocked into my lap this lunchtime, by a waitress, she did replace it, I was very glad it wasn’t my fish chowder. However it smelled very Christmassy.

Still having a lot of muscle cramps, both legs went into spasm when I woke up this morning, a very rude awakening. Not the best start to the day, but the sunrise sky was absolutely beautiful this morning, purple and lavender clouds highlighted. Pink, red and gold. A true shepherd’s warning as it rained for the rest of the day.

I wonder if we will get our second ‘booster’ jab in three months, can’t think why I feel it is going to be a big hassle to get it. Despite modern technology, communications are not good. MNy arehVing trouble in getting their first boosters.

Hi @Marylin oh what a pity to have your appointment lurking over Christmas. I know how anxious I get over routine tests and appointments.
What a good idea to send online Christmas cards and charity donation.
How absolutely lovely and very special to have a Santa’s Little Helper to put up and decorate your Christmas tree, I bet it looks lovely and makes you think of her every time you look at it.
Yes, Sainsbury’s on line delivery is bringing my Christmas food and Amazon anything else.
Why do I feel stressed up to Christmas I have hardly anything to do ???
Gosh, poor Bill having a fall, but it sounds as if he was very lucky, yes laundry baskets can be replaced and yes, perhaps every day mugs are in order.
You were unlucky with the sherry though a bit damp, sticky and smelly, I hope it did not stain your outfit.
I get the muscle cramps and spasms too in the night.
We await with our further boosters.
Look after yourselves.
How are others build up to Christmas going?
