How are you doing @jenilayo?
Hi everyone, just a quick update. I’m being discharged today and have the rest of my chemo injection as an outpatient. Unfortunately, the doctor who did my admission on Sunday night forgot to prescribe my birth control pill, as a result I’m having a withdrawal bleeding. I’m thinking of putting a complaint about it because it’s made my
HB unstable. But my doctor spoke to Gynae and they’ve increased the dose of my birth control pill and given me a bag of platelets before discharge.
Also, as a result of being in a bay with other patients dealing with infections and broken sleep, my right tonsil is now playing up. So more antibiotics for me to take to stop it from getting worse. I feel like I’ve come in only worrying about the chemo & now going home with extra baggage.
In terms of the new chemo, luckily I had no sudden onset of side effects, apart from the side effects of low platelets & anaemia. My tummy is a bit tender where the injection sites are, but luckily I have the weekend to look forward to with no injections.
Thanks for the update @jenilayo you have really been through a lot lately, but you are home now and, if you are anything like me, really pleased to be back in your own bed.
Look after and be ever so kind to yourself and please do keep posting.
Hi all, unfortunately I was back yesterday due to tonsillitis. I was neutropenic so my chemo has been put on hold until doctors think I’m well enough. I feel a lot better today than yesterday. Just really disappointed I couldn’t get a sideroom. I’m petrified of catching something else. I hope you all are having a better start of 2025 than me.
Oh @jenilayo yes, not a good way to start the year, but the tonsilitis treatment seems to be working.
Perhaps all you can do is to wear a mask, use frequent hand washing or hand sanitiser and avoid contact with others, when you can.
It is just not a good time of year for seasonal ‘bugs’
Really look after yourself and be very kind to yourself and please do keep posting
Hi @Erica yes, I bought dettol wipes, hand sanitizers and facemasks. They’re also restarting my chemo today, so I’m looking forward to that. Just hoping to get better from this tonsillitis so I can recuperate at home.
Hi @jenilayo there is nothing like your own home and bed.
Please do keep us posted and really look after yourself
Really hope you start to feel better soon
