Hi all,
Hope you are all coping and enjoying summer.
I know you probably all know this but I just have to express my shock and awe.
I wasn’t aware that bone marrow transplants give the patient a second set of DNA, this is called chimerism - chimerism can also occur in the womb. What’s crazy is that the patient could go on to have a child who is not related to them in the slightest, but to the donor as it is from their DNA. This seems to me like something out of a Sci-Fi novel or film! This seems absurd and cool and so wonderful that this is even possible. Another thing that astounds me.
Thank you all.
