Awaiting or considering or had a stem cell transplant, a place to share here

Hi @Ashob. It’s great to hear from you and to hear things are going on the right direction. You must be on high alert all of the time which is tough, but thank goodness you have family nearby if you need them. It must put your mind at rest. How is your husband feeling about going back to work.
Enjoy the nice weather whilst it lasts. Take care and please keep letting us know how you are doing X

It was lovely @Debbie36 thank you for asking. Had lots of feet up watching the tv too! Clinic day tomorrow which normally takes 6 hrs round trip so will definitely be crawling into the bed for a snooze after that!

Sounds like you’re doing pretty well now, @Ashob - am so glad to hear that. You’ve done so well to get this far and to be venturing out and managing on your own at times. Hopefully, the worst is over now, and you continue to do more and feel a bit better each day. Am thinking of you. X

Hi @ChrisCKW,
I was in Southampton 14yrs ago & this looks just like my room then. It came with a kettle, fridge, tv that you had to pay daily for & an exercise bike. Luckily you have a window!

Hi Erica I got home on Friday feeling fabulous then by Monday morning I was so tired and dizzy was glad to be going in for a review. I had to get blood and platelets. Haemoglobin was at 85 so that would account for the dizziness. The neutrophils were 5.33. It too a day to feel the effects of the transfusion and was much brighter by Tuesday. I haven’t overdone the housework I’m leaving that to my partner. Who is doing just as good a job.

Oh @Monique that was lucky that the day you felt so tired and dizzy you were going in for your review and you are feeling a bit brighter now.
My trick is to allow my partner to think he does things better than me, but you and me know he doesn’t.
Be kind to yourself

Haha yes I will be using that trick for sure.

Hello Skye , it was interesting to read your message today . I am pre stem cell and on maintenance chemo treatment carfilzomib for myeloma . I have needed a skin biopsy as I started to get acne like symptoms on an area of my back . Still waiting for results . Im on lelodmine too and dextramethasone . I’m getting locking sensation in my fingers , wrist and ankles and I’ve linked it to the dextramethasone - I take 20 little tablets four weekly . This is to be reviwed next week .

Hi @Mayo57 please let us know what your medical team say about your symptoms?
My hubby has some absolutely tiny tablets to take for another conditions, if he drops one on the floor they take ages to find on hands and knees.

Can’t believe what’s happened to me. I’m scheduled for transplant a week this Monday 20th June. I’ve been counting down the days as I’m very anxious and worried about the whole thing.
I’ve just discovered today I have Covid :face_with_head_bandage:
It’s going to set back my transplant by approximately 10 weeks. Then 6 weeks in for transplant if it goes well and out just in time for a winter round of Covid and flu when I’m going to be most vulnerable.
I’ve got to go tomorrow 9/6/22 for anti viral drug to try offset this Covid damage. I’ve never ever had Covid and now this🥲

Hi everyone, it ages since I’ve been on here. Should of had transplant on 20 June. Its now 1st October 2022. It took ages to get rid of Covid.
I’ve been suffering with back pain for at least 6 months. Had a scan which confirmed I have 2 fractures in my lower back which is extremely painful. My team are now concerned this may have been caused by my leukaemia. I do also have osteoporosis caused by coeliac disease which could be the cause and certainly won’t help.
My team are making enquiries to find out if they need a biopsy to make sure of cause. Again the stem cell transplant is stalled. It’s 2 years this Monday 3 October since I was rushed to hospital
I do feel really well apart from my back I feel back to normal. Don’t know how long before I get another date but it’s the third time it’s stalled.
I hope everyone is well on here and recovering nicely. It’s good to check in and have a read
Much luv and good luck to all.

Hi @Bees . Mine was stalled too because of Covid august 2021 and not well enough the second attempt in November 2021. Still now waiting . Take care .

So sorry @Bees and @Mayo57 that waiting, not knowing when, not being in control and not being able to plan and the scariness of the unknown must be so, so difficult. I cannot imagine what you are both feeling.
@Bees I have also had fractures of the lower spine due to osteoporosis, so painful.
Please do keep posting both of you and if you need to speak to someone the Blood Cancer UK support line is there for you.
