Hi please can anybody tell me if it took a long time to get a diagnoses of a blood cancer. I am under haematology and we keep going from aiha to acquired back to aiha. I have been so unwell the past 8 months and I have escalated my own case for a full review at Oxfords haematology of excellence centre
Hello @Lennonc3, welcome to the Forum. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been back and forth so much. It’s good that you’ve advocated for a full review, well done.
Others can share their personal experiences, but in the meantime I wanted to link you to this page about testing for blood cancer in case it is useful, as well as this blog post (though it is from 2018).
You can also likely find some similar topics if you scroll down and look under the ‘Related’ section.
Finally, if you’d like to talk to our wonderful blood cancer nurses (who can help advice you on this process) then please do reach out (for free) on 0808 2080 888.
Do let us know how you get on with the full review,

Hi @Lennonc3, I just wanted to add another welcome and say I’m really sorry you’ve been going through such a long and uncertain time, eight months of feeling unwell while things keep changing must be incredibly frustrating and worrying.
From what members often share here, it’s not unusual for haematology teams to take time reaching a clear diagnosis, especially when autoimmune conditions like AIHA can overlap with other possibilities. Investigations sometimes happen in stages while specialists rule different things in or out. That doesn’t make the waiting any easier though.
It sounds like you’ve done something really positive by asking for a full review at Oxford. Many people find that having a fresh set of eyes look at the whole picture can help bring clarity or reassurance.
Hopefully others will come along and share their experiences too. In the meantime, please know you’re very welcome here for support while you’re going through this.
Wishing you well with the review, do keep us updated if you feel able.
