Diagnosed with CLL in 2021 and on watch and wait

Hi, I’m Rosemary and have just joined the forum. I was diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia ('CLL') in 2021 and although not recent compared to others with more recent diagnoses, thought it might be helpful to others to know that I have been on watch and wait ever since and have continued to live life as before, with no discernible side effects. I eat a healthy diet and always have done. I am in my third year of an online fitness programme for women over 60 and have a generally active lifestyle. I do sometimes feel quite tired, especially in the late afternoon, in spite of sleeping well most nights, although I wouldn’t go so far as to call it fatigue. I have however just been told by my consultant that there is a slight possibility that I will have to start treatment within the next year or so. I will be 81 in May. This post is simply to offer encouragement to others with more recent diagnoses and on watch and wait.

Hi @Ros22 Welcome to the forum and for sharing your journey so far.

Your post is inspiring and I’m sure will be of value to all of us on the forum.

Great to hear you are still very active. Something that’s really important to me too.

Hello @Ros22 and a very warm welcome to the forum.

It’s so lovely to read such a positive update. Four years of ‘business as usual’ is exactly what everyone loves to hear about for with a Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia ('CLL') diagnosis.

Staying so active at 81 is very impressive and I’m sure it’s stands you in good stead. Even if the consultant is mentioning treatment for next year, you’ve clearly built up a strong foundation to handle it.

Best of luck with the online classes and I hope you have a wonderful 81st in May. But I do hope we continue to hear from you between now and then.

Hello @Ros22

Welcome to the forum and thank you for taking time to send in your post

I too am a Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia ('CLL') patient and my diagnosis was just under a year ago now. I’m due a blood test soon so fingers crossed. Reading how well your doing is wonderful, and long may this continue.

Take good care and do let us know how you get on

Kind regards

Mike.
