Effects of MGUS

I was diagnosed 3 days by an excellent haematologist as having Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS). I was very relieved that it isn’t myeloma! I will be monitored, initially in 8 weeks’ time.

I have however, been feeling unusually cold for several months as well has having “muzzy” headaches. Does anyone know if thses are associated with Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS)?

Dear @sep1,

Welcome to our forum and thank you for your post.

Sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS) but good to hear you have an excellent haematologist and you will be monitored closely. This must be very reassuring for you.

Normally Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS) does not cause any symptoms. I have enclosed a link to our information here MGUS which discuss this in more detail.

Do mention these symptoms of coldness and muzzy headaches to your haematologist or team, if you have not done so already.

Let us know how you get on.

Kind regards

Fiona (support services nurse)
