I have been on HYDROXYUREA for a long time, however recently my haemoglobin counts have been on a downward trend. I was reading that Hydroxy can cause this. So I have a call in to my hematologist to ask for her input. JeanR
Welcome to the forum @JeanR
It’s definitely a good move to get that call in to review your bloods,it’s definitely worth getting their take on the trend you’re seeing.
If you find you’re waiting a while for a call back, or if you just want to talk through how the medication works in the meantime, do give the Blood Cancer UK specialist nurses a ring. They are brilliant at explaining the details of blood counts and can help you prepare the right questions for when you do speak to your consultant.
You can reach the Blood Cancer UK Support Line on 0808 2080 888. How to contact Blood Cancer UK | Blood Cancer UK
Sometimes just talking it through with a nurse who understands the specifics can really help put your mind at rest. Hope you get some clarity soon!
Thank you Jules for that very helpful reply. JeanR
