Imatinib side effects

Oh, @Kremmen personally I think tooth pain is the worst, it really drags me down.

I was diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia ('CLL') in 2003 and have never had treatment, I have had problems with my teeth all my life. In 2006 I had multiple teeth out with my consultant, GP and dentist working together and antibiotics before during and after and I had 2 dentures fitted. They wouldn’t consider implants because of the invasiveness of them. I have had no troubles since.

Obviously times might have changed thinking but that is my experience.

Please do let us know how you get on, I haven’t ever had a specialist nurse but my consultant was very helpful and I always believe in letting them know what is going on with me when I have symptoms of any kind or they change.

Really look after yourself.

Welcome back to the forum @Kremmen, sounds like you’ve been dealing with some difficult symptoms there, perhaps from treatment side effects? That dentist sounds like one I had as a youngster that made my teeth even worse! I’m sorry you’re experiencing what you are.

I’d really suggest you speak with your haematologist about that diarrhoea and how your teeth are being so affected, it might be that your specialist can suggest a change in medicine or an additional one so you don’t have to deal with all that. No one should live with frequent diarrhoea nor crumbling teeth and I don’t imagine they can be good for you. Would you like to call the Blood Cancer UK specialist nurses to talk through what can be done about those side effects, their free number is 0808 2080 888 (option 1).

Do please check back in to let us know how you’re doing @Kremmen.
