Hi all
A while since I posted since being diagnosed with Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS). I have recently been diagnosed with predabetes due to complaining of neuropathy . I have read thatMGUS can worsen this condition. Current medication is not helping much. Has anyone else got similar issue? TIA

Hi @doughboy, thanks for sharing what’s been happening since your diagnosis. I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with neuropathy and now the prediabetes diagnosis too - that’s a lot to manage alongside everything else.
I can see on our MGUS information webpage that symptoms can include ‘numbness or tingling in hands and feet, or problems with balance’, and it says that this neuropathy is caused by paraprotein in the blood. Since your current medication isn’t giving you much relief, it’s definitely worth having another conversation with your medical team about this - they might be able to adjust your treatment or explore other options to help manage.
I’m wondering if anyone else in the community has experience of this and neuropathy and prediabetes? It would be great to hear what’s helped others manage these symptoms.
In the meantime, if you want to talk through any of this or just need someone to listen, we’re here: get in touch with our Support Team on 0808 2080 888 or support@bloodcancer.org.uk
