Missed dose

I usually take 400 imatinib at evening dinner . Am out tonight on holiday in Greece and have forgotten my tablets . Not be back to hotel till after midnight . I’m currently undetectable . Do you think missing one would be ok

Hello there @pammy, I hope you’ve been having an otherwise lovely time in Greece! I can imagine the worry you have about missing your dose, but we forum members can’t offer medical advice. If you have the Imatinib with you at the hotel can you check the packaging for information about when they need to be taken?

You could also google the medicine’s usage guidelines that come with the original bottle to see if there is a time stipulation or if it can be taken later, just an idea.

I’ll share here the Blood Cancer UK number of +44 0808 2080 888 in case you’d like to call them tomorrow from 9 am UK time to speak with a specialist nurse, and I’ll tag them here just in case any @BloodCancerUK_Nurses are online tonight.

I suppose one last thing you could do is call NHS 111 to ask advice, although like with calling the BCUK nurses do be mindful of international call charges.

Hope that helps a little @pammy, do enjoy the rest of your holiday! Totally drooling at the idea of fresh spanakopita :face_savoring_food:

Dear @pammy,

I do hope you are enjoying your holidays!!

Sorry we have only seen your post this morning. Can I ask if you took the dose in the end last night?

If you have missed the dose I would suggest letting your CNS know, do you have an email address for them? Alternatively, letting them know on your return.

Our colleagues at Macmillan do have a little information about what to do if you miss a dose - Imatinib | Macmillan Cancer Support, they say:

If you forget to take the capsules or tablets, take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is nearly time for your next dose, do not take the missed dose and take the next dose as planned. Do not take a double dose. Contact the hospital on the 24-hour number you have been given for advice.

Enjoy your time in Greece.
