@Erica
Good evening Erica. Had my consultation, blood test is stable, in fact my platelets have improved to 80. Best number since October 22 6 months before diagnosis. The only fly in the ointment is monocytes elevated. Neutrophils normal so at the minute neutropenia has ended for the time being. Doctor quite happy with the stability of my
blood count. One minor point
was a enzyme in my liver function was slightly elevated and he will write to my GP about a liver test shortly but he is not worried and said it will probably correct itself. I thought with the tooth infection and the cold I had prior to the blood test would give me dodgy readings. Anyway test stable with some improvement. Can’t grumble at that. Have a great Christmas and hopefully a healthy and happy new year. Keep up the good work.You deserve recognition perhaps a MBE or even a damehood!
Best wishes
Unclejack.
Hi @Unclejack thanks I will settle for a CDM (Cadbury’s Dairy Milk)
I have my tub of Cadbury’s Heroes earmarked for next week (other chocolates are available here for my husband !!)
Yes, very best wishes and we are about on our forum if you need us.
Hello @Unclejack
I am really sorry to hear that you are not getting a consistent diagnosis on your clinic letters. It would be my expectation that this would be adjusted and confirmed for you so I would suggest mentioning to your Consultant, Clinical Nurse Specialist and the Haematology Admin Team. Chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) and Chronic myeloid leukaemia are treated very differently and if you were to have Chronic myeloid leukaemia you would be treated with a particular drug every day so you would be very clear on the diagnosis.
Again, I am sorry you are having to deal with any uncertainty and I do hope they adjust your records as soon as possible.
Kind regards
Gemma
Hi Erica
My telephone consultation went quite well neutrophils normal, platelets rise to 80. Monocytes the fly in the ointment they rose to 190 but consultant not concerned. A liver enzyme was elevated so he’s handing that back to my GP to sort out. I noticed on a test result from 2022 it said borderline rheumatoid. I wonder if my shoulder pain is actually rheumatoid arthritis not osteo arthritis? My Cholesterol has dropped to 2. And I am told it is excellent. Yet I read since that it is actually a problem that should be investigated! It’s actually given a name. So many contradictions hard to believe anything.
Hope you are well and a very happy new year to you.
Best wishes
Unclejack
@Erica
Just been thoroughly examining my blood test results since official diagnosis last May. At that time I had Ten abnormal readings in my blood count. That has now reduced to four abnormal readings and my platelets have doubled in that period of time. I feel all this is to good to be true and will probably be just a flash in the pan. The elevated enzyme on my liver test was the A.L.P test. Apparently that could indicate something serious or nothing at all. Bit surprised consultant referred me back to my GP, I ASSUMED anything related to blood test was part of the haematology field.
Hope you are well and a happy new year to you
Best wishes unclejack.
Hi @Unclejack I am not a medical person, but I believe Hepatologists are liver specialists.
Personally I have found that it is my GP that has to refer me to each department.
Do you remember the BT Maureen Lipman TV advert overjoyed that her son had passed an ‘Ology’ exam?
Well I feel like that, I think I am under a ‘full house’ of hospital ‘Ology’ departments and i have to make sure that I do not mix the names up!!!
Yes, a very happy new year to you too.
