I sometimes have a little moan about my Chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia ('CMML') However, without treatment my life may be a shorter and suffer more symtoms. I have a very happy life although challenging at times, I have a very positive mind set but at times my positively dwindles. I ensure I plan my short break between treatments but alas at times I have to reschedule. Every month I receive my chemotherapy for 5 days. The following 2 weeks I suffer with various side affects this leaves 1 week where I feel my best during a whole month. I receive meds to help with the side effects. I am not that mobile but find the 7 good days are packed with meeting family, friends, spending time by the Sea, & Gardens, its so precious being able to do this thanks to our NHS, Haematology, Oncology Teams.
@Bonny16 so sorry to hear about the symptoms you have. But you have very nicely focused on enjoying the week of relatively good health and found ways to make the best of it! A wise strategy not only with these conditions we have, but also more broadly in life. Life is so precious and I think striving to make the best of it is what I strive to do. Best wishes.
Hi @Bonny16
Diagnosis certainly changes things.
Sounds like your outlook is positive even with the challenges
Personally I found following diagnosis that it was important to be flexible and listen to my body.
We are as you say very fortunate to have great support from our clinical teams in the NHS.
When we have a blood cancer that’s so important
I think it’s important that we recognise the great work Blood Cancer UK Cancer Research and Macmillan do too.
Diagnosis has also made made me realise just how important organisations like NHS Blood Donation and Scottish National Blood Transfusion are and all of their donors
Take care ![]()
