Specific diets for CLL

Hello everyone my name is Joseph.

I’m newly diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and as such haven’t really been affected by it. I also have CKD and neuropathy. I am 71 years old with so much to look forward to. I believe all these conditions are in some way connected to each other though I don’t know how. I’ve always had a rubbish diet so think I would start there by asking for recommendations as to what might help as a first step? Love to us all, Joseph.

Hello Joseph.

Thank you for taking time to post on the forum, and welcome.

I’m sorry to learn about your recent diagnosis, I understand it can be a very confusing time.

I also have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)) after having been diagnosed in Late April this year.

You ask specifically about diet, and that was something my consultant spoke with me about. That having been said, everyone is different, so please do only follow advise from your medical experts, but the advice I received was quite specific, sighting whole wheat / whole grain coupled with none processed foods and also fruit and veg as well as carbohydrates to combat fatigue (that can be experienced by Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) patients). To date I’ve been able to follow that guidance and all though I still love all the things I shouldn’t eat - I haven’t missed them.

I cannot relate to the CKD and neuropathy you refer to as I do not have these, but I’m confident that others with not dissimilar situations will be able to relate and offer some support.

When on the forum there is a search facility at the top and I found that this allows access to specific areas or conversations, perhaps you might want to try this as i found lots of forum posts i could read or respond to.

You may want to look at the following - I’ve just been told I have blood cancer | Blood Cancer UK - as you mention you were recently diagnosed.

Also - Eating well with blood cancer | Blood Cancer UK - refers to diet and is something you may want to refer to.

Don’t forget you can always speak confidentially with our support services team for information and support via 0808 2080 888

Take good care

Mike.
