I have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)) and have just been told I will need to start treatment, awaiting test results to check mutations and deletions first
Because I am a planner and try to be as organised as I can I was wondering about working whilst on treatment , what are your experiences of this?
I do a patient facing role so can be in contact with a lot of germs and viruses etc
I will chat about this with my team but wondered how you guys had found it
Dear @DottieB, although as you know I have a different diagnosis to you, I just wanted to pop in to say how sorry I am that you’ll be starting treatment, and the change it will bring. Or perhaps I mean I know how this can bring up worry about change and lots of what-ifs.
I’m sure you will handle it well though, you’re always so supportive to others. Remember to be as caring of yourself as you are of others when things feel too much, as they inevitably do with these blasted illnesses!
Thinking of you. I like the planning ahead idea, helps me to minimise anxiety usually when I mull stuff over in advance.
Hi - also sorry to hear of your diagnosis. This is something on my mind, I have smouldering Multiple Myeloma but just watching & waiting. Having attended a support meeting with others, guess it depends on treatments but think I might haveto isolate when it starts so all depends on whether you can work from home. Guess you also need to think of yourself & hoping your employer provide support/time off.
Having a diagnosis is tough isn’t it , and while watch and wait is a good thing, I feel it is still anxiety provoking with all the what ifs. My understanding of Multiple myeloma , is it affects your bone marrow, (apologies if I have this wrong) and so it makes sense that you would need to isolate , I think I probably will need to isolate for a short period and see how it goes ,
