Hi there, Feel silly for writing this without having results but it feels like i am getting something off my chest.
So around 10 days ago my son had a enlarged lymphnode on his groin that was found by our GP.
The GP advised going straight to hospital for further investigation which we did and unfortunately we were kept in a ward going through various blood tests, Xrays and ultrasounds over a few days period.
The above tests came back inconclusive apart from finding out that he was anemic and the lymph nodes were “angry”. So the doctor said my son would have to have this lymph node removed to be tested at a lab.
This was removed on the 23/05/25 and we got home late that night after a successful recovery from the surgery.
Me and my partner were advised these results can take up to 10 days and we will hear back about the results from a videocall on the 17th june.
That was all fine we were prepared to wait until then but today we received a letter cancelling the videocall on the 17th and they have changed it to a face to face appointment with “paediatric surgery” on the 13th
The doctors and surgeons suspected lymphoma but couldn’t say without getting the results of the removed lymph node.
Now i am extremely stressed because this videocall has changed to a face to face appointment at the hospital, I know i wont get any answers from the forum but what is everyone’s opinion on this please
My opinion is they have found something and can only discuss this face to face rather than on a videocall, If it was nothing surely they wouldn’t want a face to face appointment
Hi @ryanaesm thanks so much for taking the time to write your post so clearly.
Welcome to our support forum
The waiting and not knowing must be a really difficult time for you all.
As you say you realise that we will not be able to give you any answers.
I have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and was diagnosed 21 yrs ago and I have honestly given up trying to second guess anyone, let alone the medical profession appointment system.
This time will give you the opportunity to write down all your fears, questions and practicalities so you are organised for that appointment.
I find a face to face appointment preferable to a video call myself.
Please do let us know how you get on with the paediatric surgery unit appointment.
Be very kind and really look after yourselves
Thank you for reaching out and sharing what you’re going through. It’s completely understandable that you feel stressed and anxious, especially with the change in appointment from a video call to a face-to-face meeting. You are absolutely not being silly for getting this off your chest – this forum is here for exactly this kind of support.
It’s a tough waiting game when you’re in limbo, and your instinct to read into the change of appointment is a very natural reaction.
While we can’t know the specifics of your son’s results, please know that whatever the outcome, you and your son are in the right place, receiving care from medical professionals.
Many parents on this forum have experienced similar anxieties while waiting for results. You’re not alone in feeling this way.
Remember please continue to use this forum if you need to talk more or just offload your feelings.
