The difference is probably I’m not getting my own cells back - so different prep chemo and different pre transplant chemo.but good to know we are Getting our Hinkman lines fitted the same day!
I’m getting nervous now xxxx
ChrisCKW, Lyn99
Oh my goodness, it’s all coming together.
I’ve been at Addenbrookes for lumber puncture ouch(where they put chemo into spinal fluid and take a sample to check for leukhemia). Appt was at 3pm but consultant was running late so got seen at 5.10!
ChrisCKW are you under Dr Crawley or Dr Follows?
Dr Crawley told me I have a 10/10 donor and a potential date of 30th Aug.sooner the better as far as I’m concerned.
Lynn99 what company did you find the caps?
Onwards and upwards xxx
Hi @Summertime, it’s kicking off for all of us! Cap was just an internet Asos one, actually a guys one in faded black. I like it as not keen on the turban type things. @ChrisCKW me too xx
@Summertime Dr Crawley
30/8 is getting closer too. Xx
ChrisCKW
What did you think to the room when you had a look btw?
Looks like you will be leaving as I arrive probably. Not that I expect we will be able to mix, I have no idea what to expect really. I have a pre transplant clinic in 12th so hopefully will get more info then.
Enjoy your weekend ChrisCKW and Lynn99

@ChrisCKW, that’s interesting, it’s definitely hospital not hotel look but it’s got to be practical I guess. Will there be room for the bike? Xx
Sorry @Summertime, I posted photos then phone rang.
Room not huge but has most things in xx
Yes @Lyn99 - the entrance door wall has nothing against it. So the sister said it would fit in nicely there.
But I might move big blue armchair so I could cycle looking out of window.
Will need to get things moved around …
I took 3 really quick photos just to remind myself. I think the ward sister thought it was odd!
You can see fridge in first photo - an LEC about height and width of bedside table
Didn’t take photo of en-suite but that was ok too
I think it’s quite nice to have seen the room, I’m a but worried that mine might not be very good after saying the TV etc. might not work. I did ask if I could take in low alcohol wine, they said no!
@Lyn99
Then your next question should have been ok what about full fat alcohol or gin or whisky! Xxx
Well I think the tv works in mine, so I’ll pack a screwdriver, dismantle it and send it to you x
Ps change of tack - don’t ask just take your wine in. I don’t think they’ll operate a stop and search or sniff and swig policy
Exercise?
Ok, the rooms for SCT are small and most of us undertaking the procedure will be confined to that one room.
I’ve been looking for for yoga or a light exercise routine to do in minimal space.
There are exercises for bed bound patients but I can’t find anything for confined to room - any suggestions? Anyone?
@Alice_BloodCancerUK have you got a link to anything? I know you have links to useful info.
It’s tempting but I bet they check your fridge when you’re not looking Maybe I should put it in one of the drips…They have asked me to take in ice cubes or lollies to have during the chemo. Supposed to reduce the soar mouth for my treatment. Not sure if that will be good for your chemo too? Thanks for the TV, can you send it Express Delivery?
@lynn - freeze wine in the ice cube tray!
Now @ChrisCKW and @Lyn99 freezing wine in the ice cube tray really is an idea, what about wine Ice lollies???
I bet if you took wine gums in they would be confiscated !!!
Oh thanks ChrisCKW, that gives me a good idea of what to expect. So you are taking an exercise bike??
Ooh getting excited, be so good to get this started and over with and back to our real lives

Your room looks very similar to the one I had @ChrisCKW so In guess that’s standard. Practical without being exciting. I was lucky to have a working TV, it really got me through those days, especially as it was Wimbledon fortnight. I think you’re wise to do some exercise as I just lay around on my bed the whole time and I felt very weak when I was discharged and took a few days to recover my strength when I left. I like your way of thinking @Lyn99 Sadly they wouldn’t let me have any either, I had to make do with fruit juice and tea and after the chemo I struggled with the juice as it was too acidic for my newly ripped out throat. Keep us updated on how it all goes.
Oh Lynn I am thinking of you today!!! keep up your jolly attitude and stay strong! You can do this!! Chris… your not too far behind now and my thoughts are the same for you. Summertime…. I think you’re going to be going in before me as I’m still on oral Chemo for 6 weeks and don’t have a specific date. I sincerely hope it all runs as smoothly as is possible for you all. Big Virtual hugs
