Thanks for your kind words of support @Erica

I’ve enjoyed the step challenge and will of course see what final total is for the month.

As much as anything I hope it gives hope and encouragement to everyone living with blood cancer.

When discharged after Stem Cell Transplant walking 100 yards was a challenge so this challenge has reminded me how far I’ve come in past 17 months.

Nothing but gratitude for my donor and the wonderful NHS staff who have and continue to support me.

And of course everyone here on the forum

Thank you @Willow

It was definitely one step at a time. Which I think all of us dealing with blood cancer or supporting someone through blood cancer really get.

Glad you enjoyed the scenery too. Tried to give a little flavour of where I live and walk

Wow @DuncanB I’ve somehow missed that you were doing this incredible challenge, and you’ve already completed it?! It’s really so impressive, you must have figured out your hydration needs to a T! Or, should I say tea?!

So 400,000 steps is 200 miles, no?! Amazing stamina, Duncan. I dare not peek at my AllTrails app as I’m sure I haven’t hiked that much this whole year :see_no_evil_monkey:

Thank you for your images as well, it’s always such a treat to see what you see, like beautiful living postcards.

Inspirational and encouraging indeed, Duncan! :trophy:

Thanks for your kind words @Duncan

400,000 steps not quite 200 miles. Around 184 so not far off.

I’m sure your steps on the trails are more challenging than mine. I tend to walk mostly on the flat.

Hello everyone

Some amazing results for the number of steps people are doing.

I feel really inspired, and although I have only done 246295 so far in September, I do hope to keep beating my previous monthly total, and I’m very pleased to say I did this as August was 226134 in total.

My average steps per day in August was 7295 and for September it is 8210.

Its great fun, and its good for you is what i keep telling myself!

Take good care everyone

Mike

Hi @GenesisDevice Great to see you and I would say don’t worry what others achieve because we are all very unique.

Yes, my step tracker is brilliant at charting my steps/miles daily and I can see what I am achieving, but I also find that ‘life’ gets in my way and available time varies and meeting friends is also very important for my wellbeing.

You are doing great

Love this! You have done so well, @DuncanB

I’m lingering over your photographs… I can imagine you striding through this landscape, it’s beautiful.

I love this inspiring tally, and great to see a photo of you @GenesisDevice I now know who to look out for in York  I’m also a fair walker, but I try to fit in some running and a (probably too) hardcore exercise class as well. I do feel better afterwards (for a bit) but it’s not always easy to do. Must admit that I am not as able as I was when diagnosed in 2024 but keep going. Track my walks on my 'phone and usually around 7000 steps a day, but the exercise is extra (I dont take a phone with me for that). Oh and there’s also the weekly dancing

That’s brilliant that you’re doing more steps month on month Mike @GenesisDevice

It’s always important to listen to your body and not overdo it.

That said sounds like you’re building it up gradually.

16 months ago post transplant a 1,000 steps walking around the house was an achievement for me.

Great photo :camera_with_flash:

Wise words as always @Erica

All about balance and catching up with friends or enjoying a coffee or hot drink out always a treat :face_savoring_food:

Walking at a leisurely pace rather than striding would be a better description @Leigh65

There’s always the incentive of my wife’s home baking to keep me going on afternoon walk

So as it’s the last day of the month I thought I’d share my total steps and details of what I’ve raised for Blood Cancer UK.

Step total for September is 462,473 which equates to 211 miles.

Thanks to generosity of friends and family I’ve managed to raise £1,127 plus an additional £155 through gift aid from those donating.

Feels good to have completed the step challenge and give something back to support all that Blood Cancer UK do for everyone dealing with or supporting others dealing with blood cancer

And of course the vital research that they do

Very well done - I find your achievement very motivational and may consider something like this myself
