I was diagnosed with Chronic myeloid leukaemia 31/2 years ago. I went into remission after 3 months. My lips stopped peeling only a month ago but the fatigue is very bothersome. I read that asciminib causes less fatigue than Imatinab so would like to try this new drug. I live in Canada and the health care system is dismal. My hematologist isn’t helpful at all. I don’t care for him but I don’t have a choice- it’s him or nobody. I will see him in11/2 months and will ask him to change me over to the new drug. Right now I’m on 200 milligrams of Imatinab. And I would like to know what dosage would I need with asciminib.
Welcome @C.conway in Canada.
As you realise we are a UK support forum and diagnosis, treatments and treatment plans might be very different.
Unfortunately we are not medically trained and cannot comment on dosages or any medical questions, clinicians decide those sort of issues on the individual patient and their medical history.
Take lots of care and thanks for posting.
Hello @C.conway
Thank you for your post & welcome to our forum.
We are sorry to hear about your diagnosis and that you aren’t finding your haematologist helpful, but we are pleased to hear that you are in remission.
Is there anyone else you could speak to within the team, such as a clinical nurse specialist or perhaps ask for a different consultant?
Fatigue can be frustrating, our page on this may be useful as it contains helpful tips to try and reduce this Fatigue | Blood Cancer UK.
As Erica has mentioned we are unable to give direct medical advice and our guidelines here in the UK may differ from in Canada, however our colleagues at Cancer Research UK have a page on
Asciminib | Cancer Research UK which may be helpful to read over for any questions you may have for your team. This website also contains a link to the electronic medicines
compendium under the 'More information about this treatment’ section and you could search more about this drug, but again Canada may have different guidelines for this treatment so it is best to speak to your team about this. Dosage is also based on an individual circumstances which your team can decide based on your medical history/ blood results.
Take care,
Emma (support services nurse)
Thank you!
You have been extremely helpful.
I don’t have a team - just the oncologist who is an arrogant man who told me I’m tired because I’m old!
This man has the personality of a rock!!
You have given me more information in your email than I have gotten in the last 31/2 years here in Canada.
Have a great day!!
