Hi there I’m Richie 56 years old
First time posting on the forum, found out I had Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) through routine blood test and only then found out on my nhs app ,that was 3 months ago .put on watch and wait going back for bloods in October ,but feel fine in myself lost some weight (my own doing) still need to work but I love my job, not told work as I don’t really have anything to tell them ,we have a good private sick pay scheme in place
Not real sure how I feel emotionally good days and not so good days but don’t want this blood disorder to disrupt our lives to much
Booked in for vaccinations in a few weeks ,taking vitamin D changed my diet hence the the weight loss but overall feeling better than I have in years !!!
I did call the phone /help line only to clarify vaccinations amazing lady I spoke to put my mind at ease when I could not speak to my gp
Hi @Richie
Welcome to the forum!
I too have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and am the same age so can empathise with your post a fair bit .I was diagnosed nearly two years ago and am on active monitoring but have been having appointments x 4 monthly due to having some symptoms
The lovely folks on here are great and have wise words and are always happy to share info and offer support
I get what you mean about the emotional aspects of having a diagnosis of blood cancer , it can feel very up and down
It sounds like you are doing all the right things and taking care of yourself. Exercise is really important and always helps lift my mood
Let us know how you are getting on and be kind to yourself
Best wishes
Thank you for your reply trying to stay positive and it’s getting easier the wife’s been amazing onwards and upwards take care
Richie
Hi @Richie
Glad you have support, my hubby is the same , always so grateful to have him and the family . Not sure what I would do without them.
It’s good to stay as positive as you can but be really kind to yourself when that’s hard to do because it will be sometimes and that’s okay
Best wishes
