Hi @Unclejack what a really powerful rendition and somehow sounded just about a different song, thanks so much.
Thanks for that track recommendation Unclejack - itās outstanding !!
Hi Erica and jilly 20,
Yep similarly I was awestruck when I first listened to it. To be honest I had not heard of this band and didnāt realise they are basically in the heavy metal genre. Very rare a cover tops the original. Although I had a similar experience when I heard some years ago Johnny Cash covering the nine inch nails song HURT
Glad you both liked it
Stay well
Best wishes
Unclejack.
Hi Erica,
The weekend gremlins hit me again. Just after lunch another blood blister appeared on the roof of my mouth, only this time it grew and grew eventually about the size of a ping pong ball. It started effecting my airway and I started panicking. The wife rang for ambulance was told no chance for six hours. Rang red card number they couldnāt help other than to advise go to A and E. Just as taxi arrived the blister burst which absolutely filled my mouth with blood , but I could breathe better so panic subsided. A and E were pretty good after the 3 hour wait. Initial triage after 20 mins. Blood test again and E.N.T. doctor examined me. Blood test revealed blood count stable which was a relief. Funny old day one minute mowing the lawns next gasping for breath whilst Mrs trying to get help from our extinct ambulance service. Seems our country really is broken, how did we reach a point were ambulance service no longer exists? Anyway A and E were very helpful. Hoping you and the rest of our gang are well.
Best wishes
Unclejack.
Oh @Unclejack that must have been so scary for you especially but also for your wife.
I am glad A and E were helpful anyway.
Oh, those gremlins !!!
In the words of the song not much ālazing on a Sunday afternoonā.
Look after yourselves
Morning Erica,
Yep it was scary. In the good old days as a absolute last resort you knew help was 999 call away. Unfortunately those days are gone.
I just canāt understand how somebody chocking is not a emergency. To be honest it was lucky I couldnāt talk because the air would have been blue if I was able to make that call.
We read every day of ambulances being tied up at A and E. But our wonderful politicians are no longer interested in we peasants!
Best wishes
Unclejack.

Hi unclejack
Sorry to hear you have had such a bad experience. It is quite worrying that you could not get an ambulance. I am okay, but had an annual blood test at the GP surgery last Wednesday and got a text Friday to ask me to contact the surgery. When I called them they advised my some of my blood readings were below limits and I need to have the bloods done again next week in case it was a blip. I then went and asked for a copy of the blood results and can see my blood counts have changed. I am not going to worry at this stage as I am due at the hospital 3 weeks today. I hope you have had a better day today.
Take care.
Hi Lyndham,
Hope your readings were a blip. I can imagine the stress you are experiencing. Try and keep positive. Admittedly that can be difficult. Yesterday I was depressed beyond measure until my readings showed my blood count was stable. Felt very down today especially about the feeling that we no longer have a 999 ambulance service. My blood count was all over the place until the end of May then have improved somewhat and stabilised. My platelets dropped to 46, nutrifils dropped to 1 at the low point. Now they stand at platelets 58, nutrifils 1.59 and red blood has strangely always been stable at around 12 to 12.5. So hopefully your figures are just a fluctuation and will be Ok. My count stands roughly as they were last October when this journey started.
As an aside I have started including every food that helps blood cells in my diet. Probably a waste of time but psychologically makes me think it may help. I have grown to like liver and onions! Luckily my wife tolerates the preparation and cooking of it. Blueberries raisins bananas in Greek yogurt start my breakfast followed by massive bowl of porridge. Anyway keep positive.
Best wishes
Unclejack.
Hi Tanya,
Been down last couple of days. But beginning to perk up a bit now. I contacted haemotology this morning, nurse will talk to doctor tomorrow
about bringing my next appointment forward.
Blood blister still very big and bleeding slightly.
I think it will take a few days to start healing.
Thanks and best wishes to you
Unclejack.
Hi @Unclejack I am not surprised that you have been down the last couple of days.
I think something medical also hits me emotionally, psychologically, physical and practically and that wipes me out and really drags me down and fatigues me.
Lets hope the doctor brings your next appointment forward.
Be kind to yourself
Hi Erica
As always thanks for your support
Best wishes
Unclejack
Hi @Lyndam sorry about your blood test results, please do let us know how your tests and appointment goes.
Look after yourself
Hi unclejack.
Thank you for your support. My blood readings donāt seem to read like yours do. The only one that does is the platelets which are still quite good at 90. The monocyte count has raised and the red blood cell count and haemoglobin concentrate have dropped. Anyway I donāt have long to wait so will just have to see what happens then. Take care and stay as well as you can.
Hi Erica
Thanks for your concern, I will let you know how things go.
Take care of yourself as well.
Hi Erica and Lyndham,
Blood blister beginning to improve but will take a few days I suspect. What an excuse to eat dishes of beautiful home made trifle. As an aside blood cancer UK sent me a message about clinical trials sounds very interesting.
Discussed it with the wife but still undecided.
Perhaps do no harm to go for it? Chrissy D mentioned Dr. Daniel Wisemanās a couple of weeks ago. Anyway things are a little better today. Anyway must stay positive. Hope All the gangs okay
Best wishes
Unclejack.
Oh @Unclejack when I have had dental issues my favourites are tinned custard (hot or cold) and any ice cream.
Take your time discussing clinical trials with your wife, quite a few people on our forum have experiences of them and Blood Cancer UK are there for you if you would like to discuss or clarify anything.
Best wishes
Hi @Lyndam @Unclejack and all the BCUK support team. So sorry to hear of your awful experience uncle Jack and your changing blood counts Lynda. Maybe the repeat blood test was different? One thing I did discover by accident is that fasting lowers white cell counts!! Iād gone for an ultrasound on my spleen prior to my blood being taken and had had to fast overnight so when my blood test was done I hadnāt eaten for about 18 hours!! It made quite a difference to my white cell count. Only found this out through my own research however. The prof didnāt seem to know anything about it!! Anyway, since then I always made sure Iād had a good breakfast and tea and cake or lunch prior to the blood test!!
Iāve never heard of those blood blisters. Iām personally plagued with mouth ulcers due to my low neutrophils 0.5-0.7. Have tried every ulcer preparation on the market and none of them work except a steroid paste that isnāt sold in U.K. any more and I have to rely on knowing somebody who is going to Australia where they still sell it in pharmacies ! Iāve had 3 drug mules do that for me!!
Hope your next appointment is ok
Lynda. If you put @ and the personās username you get an email alerting you to a new post. I keep forgetting to catch up with you all!
@Unclejack as far as I know the Fan Wiseman trial is the ONLY trial for Chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) patients? Please let me know if youāve been alerted to another Chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) trial and I can spread the word!
Best wishes to all
Hi Chrissy D and Lyndham,
Yep my blood blister was a huge shock and a huge size. It came up in a couple of minutes. I was beginning to choke wife was panicking and 999 response was utterly disgraceful. If I could have talked the air would have been blue.
Luckily it burst and I could breathe properly. To be fair when I arrived at A and E by taxi the staff were good. A relief to see blood test stable. Contacted haemotology following day and they confirmed blood test was fine. Saw GP Thursday she was astounded at the size of the damage. She is German and her first words were MY GOD. Anyway she went through blood test and confirmed everything to do with clotting was normal and this blister was not related to my bone marrow or anything sinister she suspected a blood vessel had been damaged. All in all things are slowly beginning to heal. Needless to say I shall be extremely careful when eating. I checked if there was any new trials but as yet canāt find anything. I did mention increasing vit d to GP and she had no objections. I found out that the UK recommended vit d recommendations are very obsolete and more is required especially with such a dreadful summer. Anyway I am taking supplements. Hoping your nutrifils improve. Mine were 1 but at last test had improved to 1.59.
Lyndham hoping your blood count recovers at your next test. Stay positive.
Best wishes
unclejack.
@ChrissyD
Hi Chrissy thank you for your @ tip. My neutrophil levels seem to be okay, it is the monocyte count that is raised and red blood cell count and haemoglobin that are below range. Otherwise I am okay. It is good to keep in touch with others who have this disease, it certainly helps keep up morale. @uncle jack, good to hear your blood blister problem is resolving, thankfully I have never had any that big. Take care of yourselves.
