CT Scan for lymph node swelling

So the CT Scan that my specialist had arranged after his physical examination of me last Wednesday was carried out as arranged on Sunday. It was booked for 15:50 and I arrived at the MRI & CT depot at 15:35. Upon arrival a nurse handed me a form to fill in. I’d not had a CT Scan before, but in any case she ran through the process, telling me what to expect. In particular, what I may feel when the contrast liquid is injected into my arm. I was then called forward spot on 15:50 and escorted into the ready room where a cappula was put in my arm. Then straight to the donut where I was surprised that I didn’t need to remove any clothing. Just drop my trousers to my knees to take belt and zip fly out of range of the scan arc. The contrast liquid was injected and the scan was finished in no time. I walked out of the depot at 16:10 and not having experienced any of the possibly uncomfortable reactions to the contrast injection. With a pre Christmas cruise booked in December, I look forward to my next contact with my specialist, a virtual appointment on 10th January.

Thanks so much @Horsetrent for documenting your experiences of your CT scan I expect that you will have helped so many others.
Please do tell us all about it and obviously also tell us about your virtual appointment on 10th Jan. Perhaps just write down all your fears, questions and practicalities while they are fresh in your mind.
Now just go off on your cruise and have a fabulous time.

Hi Nicola75, yes it did go very smoothly. I was expecting to spend much longer at the hospital. Maybe the fact that it was a Sunday meant there were less appointments booked. I decided against detailing in my post the possible effects one might get when the injection liquid enters the arm. I was a little nervous due the expectation of feeling those and was surprised when I didn’t get even one of them.

Our first cruise since the pandemic and looking forward to it very much. Our last cruise was sailed 1000 miles up the Amazon river and we were actually in Manaus when we heard on the News about this new virus in China. Our next port of call was San Salvador, Brazil and we heard whilst there about the first UK cases being found in Yorkshire. We went ashore to buy a box of masked to be ready when we docked back in Southampton.

Gosh @Horsetrent you won’t forget the timing of your last cruise will you.
I always like weekend appointments they seem a lot calmer somehow.
