I can concur with what the others have said @Carello . The doctors give you the bleakest prognosis possible but the reality is often different. If I believed the prognosis I was given, I’d be saying my goodbyes right now but I’m fighting fit and enjoying life. The treatment may not be pleasant at times but I know you’ll be a solid support for your dad and help him through it.
