As a benchmark what is the criteria for goal line technology that triggers the refs watch?

A moan of mine in the same subject is “what is the position of a ball to be placed on/in the Quadrant at taking a Corner?” The Refs Assistant stands there and the player puts the ball goalside of the line without question.

Thanks for your reply Ill just get a protractor

Is that your Euclidean protractor?
It’s either in the geometry of the pitch or not!
God help us if the pitch goes quantum! Parallel world and all that.

Yes very funny

Also Southgate today spoke of how he wants England to be ranked no1 in the World, then he rests Kane? Perhaps a statement keeping things professional, but reminding people of achievements would of been better. To speak of wanting to be ranked no1 in the World and then resting your captain is asking for criticism?
Overall I myself have no complaints about Southgate & would urge fa to get him to sign contract quickly, as Im sure Man U are monitoring the situation.
As stated previously he has qualified wth garunteed top spot with two games to spare
I honestly don’t understand the criticism.
I’d rather be European Champions than ranked no1 in the World.
Southgate & England were being tipped as Euro 2024 winners recently and rightly so, I feel sorry for the paying customerwho expect pride, but do some people especially in the media have short memories?
See my previous post anyway @Iain

Got to come clean the spelling of Iain is a clue. Proud son of a proud Highland man. I have no affiliation to the England national team. Local affiliations are a different game.

@anon06 Think he wants as many accolades as he can to boost his cv before he leaves England

@Rammie18 well done for beating Spurs. Looking at the Spurs flamboyant style, a lot of neutrals would like to see them be successful. Had a feeling they would come unstuck, the Premiership is his biggest challenge a triple jump from Scotland.
To state the obvious defending is as important as attacking, even without being boring. Keagan esque football does not garuntee trophies. Well done anyway Villa.

Much appreciated as long as villa don’t concede in the first ten minutes of a half well often do well for the rest.

Great three points and away too which makes a change.

Everton were unlucky in parts and felt bar a wonder goal and a goal line clearance had Everton scored I really think it would pumped the crowd and Everton would’ve gone to another level. If the home atmosphere can continue to be hostile (in a good way) you’ll be fine!

Thanks and agreed re Everton
1 A wonder goal
2 A Subbuteo penalty scenario, careless by Young. I felt it was a pen

Unlucky to have both against us in 1 game though

Finishing poor though unlucky, spirit good

Faults need to be rectified , feeling positive about Forest away

Any thoughts on Spurs in general?

@Rammie18

Depends what they do in Jan, their pressing will get found out and I think most teams will learn how to counter it quickly.

Most teams struggled with Brighton last season but playing the same way can initially work out but in the prem it’s very quickly found out.

I think when you invest heavily on 11 players as soon as injuries and suspensions start kicking in you start to lose your mojo.

It’s why pep and city do it so well that bar the keeper, no one plays every game which though limits the fluidity makes it easier to players to give 100%.

To add with all the great teams that have had attacking flare in abundance.
Where would Liverpool be without Virgil vd?
City without Stones?
Go back further
Utd without Pallister & Bruce?
Villa without Mcgrath?
Arsenal without Adams Dixon Winterburn Keown Dixon and Bould? @erica
Everton in mid 80’s without Van den Haue Ratcliiffe, Mountfield & Watson?
Go even further AND FURTHER back
England without Moore?

Ok you or someone may say what about Brazil 1970?!
Ok ya got me on that one :joy:

I loved watching Newcastle in 90’s
I love Spurs now
Does this style garuntee success?
Id like to see it,
but sadly no trophies, well there wasn’t for Newcastle who come so close with truly great players, will Spurs win trophies playing in a similar fashion?
Is theis Spurs team better than Newcastle in 90’s?
@Rammie18
Any thoughts @Wullysamba @Iain

Wenger Brilliance
I was listening to freddie ljungberg last
night he was a guest on Monday Night Football. He recalled an incident on his first day at training when he cut in and scored a great goal, Wenger was not happy though and said they did not do that at Arsenal!
Arsene pointed out to ljungberg that he should of passed to a player in a better position, ie the emphasis is on teamwork.
Wengers theory was that the closer a player is to goal the better chance a TEAM has of scoring, an obvious theory, but one he stuck to religiously. Players would pass when infact it was easier to score, just opinions, a great manager nonetheless!
I was just wondering if he often said the same to a certain Frenchman?
Henery was different! :grinning:

Celtic won trophies in Scotland playing this way, the 5 substitutions really seem to help it being a manageable play style. The quality of opposition has a big say in its effectiveness.
They won nothing in European football playing this way.
I like to see a team attack attack attack against hammer throwers like anybody else but I’m not convinced it’s a way to grind out results and I think that’s how trophies are won

@Rammie18 so your gonna win the league now, yea!

Agreed not in a quality Premiership

Taking each game as we come but absolutely buzzing result!

Never thought I could love unai any more?!

So now your "Champions Of Europe ", I was watching on that channel named after the rain Forests online (you can’t advertise hear) & Villa had City encamped in their own half, usually that’s what City do to the opposition?
Also the goals show with Stelling was good as well, I’d recommend it. It’s on same chan that you can shop on, thats named after Rain Forests
@Rammie18

Also to @Erica & @Iain nice to see your teams doing well & do you think this will be Vardys last season?
What are both your thoughts on season so far?

Hope I don’t jinx but Toffees are putting in a good show against Newcastle tonight.

Man City after last night must be watching the Gunners with concerns.

As for the Foxes we’re still in the race and if the recent drop in goals is the blip every team has then I can live with that. As for Vardy it’s expected for him to be to be a sub more often but still a value.

Toffees 1:0 with 10mins to go. Will they get out of the bottom 3 tonight?
