@Summertime it’s all go for @ChrisCKW and @Lyn99 at Addenbrookes in case you are interested.
@Erica @Nichola75 Thank you both for your support, it’s very much appreciated. Hate the thought of being in hospital for a month, away from my family and many pets! and feeling pretty poorly for most of it but at least I know there are friends out there that I can share my journey with xx
It must be a horrible feeling and I would feel exactly the same. Get lots of things ready to help pass the time. Gosh, I took a deep breath for you then. You’ll be in all off our thoughts and can keep us all updated on here. X
Hi, @Lyn99 wow - twins ! We will be in at the same time!!
I’m going to need a removal van to take all the things I need. I can’t imagine how you will feel without your lovely sphinxes if you get photos you must post some so that I can see how my virtual adoptees are
Laundry is going to be a nightmare for me … my daughter lives in Norfolk. She will have to cross Norfolk, and Suffolk and half of Cambs to get to the hospital. So first off I’ll need to take enough for 14 days, that way after 7 she can take what I’ve worn and I’ll still have a weeks worth of clothes, undies, pjs etc.
It’s all so much to think about, pack and prepare for! xxxxxx
I hope you have a very comprehensive list! Your mind must have so many things whirring around at the moment. Like you said- just to much to think about
at moment my list is two columns on a full a4 lined notepad.
Hugs @Nichola75
Sending big hugs back!
Hi @ChrisCKW, I feel a bit inadequate I haven’t done a list!!
I’m lucky that the GWH hospital is only about 10 mins drive for us but my husband will be doing the laundry probably a bit of dodgy tumble drying though…I want to take in some treats and bottled fizzy water, teabags, milk and a kettle. I would like a fold up exercise bike too but I haven’t seen the room and I don’t know if that’s allowed? My talk and tour isn’t until the 27th so not much time inbetween to guage the facilities! I’m worried about wifi and having internet, I’m not very good at resetting that sort of thing and will be lost without my phone and tablet. If you don’t hear from me you know I haven’t mastered it!! Have you had your hair cut short, I would recommend it if you haven’t already it’s much better when it does come out…I wear my wig out but getting used to the bald look at home. I haven’t lost eyebrows or lashes yet so can still do eye makeup at the moment which helps. Xx
Oh, @Lyn99 you have got to many a range of lists !!!
It really is all systems go isn’t it.
Thinking of you loads.
Hi @ChrisCKW I am impressed by your lists.
Good thinking of taking clothes for 14 days and the 7 day de luxe laundry service.
My must have items are always wet wipes and panty liners !!!
Gosh it is really happening now isn’t it.
Our fold up exercise bike was the best thing we bought during lockdown! Thinking of you to X
Well there is an exercise bike on the ward that apparently isn’t used, so they’ve said I can have that in my room @Lyn99
Wet wipes, face wipes (and dettol wipes) all on my list.
Kettle great idea
Lists unbeatable! Xxx
Ps @lynn - I’ve not yet been offered a ‘talk and tour’ x
That’s so pretty @Nichola75
We went to a bed and breakfast and they both wanted a version of it in their room! They do love a cup of tea👍
It must be so tough dealing with hair loss for any woman so I feel for you all. I know how upset my sister got when she started having chemo. She wore a pink turban and it really suited her. It’s not so bad for men (about the only time my gender gets a break ) Since I’ve not had much hair since I was 30 anyway, it wasn’t so much of a shock. In a lot of ways I was quite happy because I didn’t need to shave my head or shave my chin for a few months.
Hi @Nichola75, what a brilliant idea, I don’t drink tea or coffee, but I spy hot chocolate, I think, and the biccies look good. I would have to replenish it every day.
Hi @Franko I remember having apoplexy when my son shaved his head many year ago but it suits him so well.
Hi @ChrisCKW, to be quite honest I think the tour will be interesting but the talk may be a bit too much information?
They have asked for husband to come along so could be quite in depth and probably scary
