Hi everyone,I hope you are all as well as you can be and were able to enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend.
I have spent this Summer nursing a broken arm,so it hasn’t been alot of fun for me,the thing is I’m off food, and when I do eat it’s not alot,so was wondering does anyone have any ideas to help me get my appetite back,I am a very big lady so my weight isn’t an issue.
Sorry to hear about your broken arm @Spaceshopper61, I have broken my arm in the past and everyday tasks are so difficult aren’t they, I shall say no more.
As for being off your food, please remind us are you on treatment currently?
How are your tastebuds?
Do bland foods or spicy foods, sweet or savoury go down better?
Is it something you would benefit from talking to your medical team about?
Someone else might be able to share their experiences
Look after yourself and I hope you get your appetite back soon.
It was a good thing it wasn’t my leading arm,I would of been in real trouble. I’m still on watch and wait, next appointment is end of Sept,I’ve tried alsorts of food to tempt me without much luck, when I first broke my arm I spent ten days in hospital and they changed my medication to allow different pain relief and my Doctor won’t put me back on my old meds yet, could that have anything to do with it?
Oh @Spaceshopper61 it sounds as if that was some arm break.
If you feeI that you cannot wait till the end of Sept then I wonder if you have a specialist nurse contact to talk to and explain that your Dr changed your meds to allow different pain relief when you broke your arm and won’t change it back it back to old meds and that has coincided with you loosing your appetite and could the meds be changed back please.
Who knows if there is a link, please let us know
Thank you, it was really bad, I will give it a couple of days then ring my Doctor again for help, if that doesn’t work then I will contact my specialist Nurse for advice.
Hi Spaceshopper61
I’m so sorry to hear about your arm too - not a nice thing to happen over the summer at all.
I just wanted to share this information we have about Blood cancer and eating problems in case you hadn’t seen it: Blood cancer and eating problems | Blood Cancer UK
You may well of tried some of the ideas, but maybe there is something in there that may help.
As the webpage says, you really don’t have to cope alone with eating problems. If you are having any difficulties with eating speak to your hospital team or GP. Often they can recommend treatment to help with the cause of eating problems. So, do give them a call if your lack of appetite continues.
Take good care and hope your arm heals well soon.
