Hi Bananacake & Erica,
Thank you both so much for posting. I had no reply from the email I sent to my GP’s practice early on Monday morning. I resent it again, then yesterday I managed to get through to speak to a receptionist …… I was told a few GP’s are off work as they tested positive for Covid, also a receptionist & a nurse!!!
Anyway, the receptionist after hearing my concerns, has arranged for a GP call back for today. Hooray😁 I have decided to go for a private MRI but need a referral letter so hopefully that will be ready by early next week & I can go ahead & book the MRI. I would really like to see a consultant but as no one really knows whats causing my symptoms I have no idea who I should be seeing.
Just can’t function anymore. Totally wiped ouy. I had to go to bed at 9pm last night. Never been to bed that early since I was child.
I did speak with a nurse at the helpline who was so lovely. Very grateful.
Hi@Jude13 that is so good to hear that the receptionist has arranged for you to speak to a GP today and lets hope you can move forward with some investigations.I thought of you the other day ,I opened my fortisip and realised after the first mouthful it was bannana flavour oh no ,its same colour as vanilla so dont know if it was put in by mistake !I love bannanas but not the drink (fussy me )@Jude 13,you are explaining so well about "not functioning "anymore so Lets hope there is some action soon .I’m really sorry to hear that covid has put the system out of action ,it sounds really bad where you are.
Thanks for posting

Hello @Jude13 it’s lunchtime here, but I hope it won’t be too much longer before you get the phone call from a GP. A watched kettle never boils springs to mind. If I know I am waiting for a phone call or delivery I immediately want to go to the loo. Legs crossed.
I am glad that you have made a decision to book a private MRI scan and I hope the referral letter is soon ready for you.
I get delayed fatigue too. I keep going when something stressful is going on then it suddenly all gets the better of me. As you say totally wiped out, it takes it’s toll.
This is the time to really look after and be kind to yourself, you have been through a lot.
Hi Bannanacake & Erica,
Well, no phone call from GP! I finally got through to the practice just now. The receptionist checked & apologised as I was not put on the GP’s list this morning!!! She said the receptitionist that I spoke with yesterday, is now off with Covid so the call has been re arranged for Monday Morning.
I thought yesterdays receptionist was emailing the GP explaining why I needed the call but it didn’t happen, just the details put on my notes.
Covid is very bad here now, the worst since the pandemic began. I have my blood tests re booked for next week so they will get done this time.
@Jude13 your saga continues, we await Monday and another weekend for you waiting I am afraid.
Fingers crossed that your blood tests go ahead.
Look after yourself
Hi Bananacake & Erica.
I received a call from a GP at 8.15 this morning. It was thought best I should pay to see a Urologist & await a call from the one stop shop to see what the consultant there will advise, regarding a CT scan or other tests. Otherwise, it’s just another scan & I still won’t be under any consultant relating to whats been found. I will then be waiting for the test result to be sent to a GP. Then a long wait to get in touch with them to receive them.
Also, the other GP who is off with Covid, had contacted a Hematologist regarding the altered bone marrow findings so maybe hear something soon. GP today, has arranged an ovarian cancer blood test so will have that along with the other pile of bloods this Wednesday
Feel better today now things are moving.
Yes, @Jude13 you certainly have a lot going on and as you say you feel better today now things are moving.
I am glad you got the call at 8.15 this morning it saves peering at the phone all day.
I foresee a lot of waiting on others ahead for you, horrible, but we are here.
Be kind to yourself
Hi @Jude13 well it does sound as though "things"are moving and I hope that you hear soon from the Haematologist re the bone marrow findings and get some guidance from the one stop shop .The various scans can show up some
Issues better than others so its important to have the one you need.It sounds like the GP you spoke to is getting things moving with the blood tests for ovarian cancer which will be a worry for you waiting for that but least you will know if that is a problem.I had a random test for this last year and it was OK but the waiting was awful. I dont know how you are taking your mind off things and if you have family or other support you are certainly going through it. Good luck with the "pile of blood tests tomorrow "I so want to hear they go ahead and as @Erica says the forum is here for you and yes be kind to yourselves, thats very important
as I am learning.
Bannanacake
Thanks so much Bananacake. Will let you know but so far so good as received nothing to cancel tomorrows blood test as of yet, but ….everything is up in the air now so to speak, since all Covid restrictions were removed.
Oh no family support here! But at least things are moving now.
Thank you so much Erica. Yes, a waiting game for sure. Just wish these Covid restrictions had not been lifted.
Hi @Jude13 you have the support of your forum family around you, and the Blood Cancer UK support line, we all really understand what you are going through.
Yes, really look after yourself and spoil yourself you are going through a lot and diversion tactics are useful I use music, walking (because I am nosey), reading, some things on TV, cooking, Pilates (if I don’t concentrate I fall over!!) etc.
Thank you Erica.
Got told today that the blood results are now taking longer…. Oh well! I have a private consultation booked with a Urologist on the 21st which is next Wednesday so won’t be long.
Hi @Jude13 are you saying you didnt get your blood tests ,or taking longer to process?
Thats good you have your Urology
Appointment .
Its a waiting game thats for sure what can you do? I got a card for my Birthday last month with "Smile "written on it ,it made me laugh, although sometimes its hard. Thanks for posting .
Bannanacake
Oh so sorry Bananacake, yes, I meant that the results are taking longer. I can’t see things improving anytime soon the way Covid is increasing. From the begining of the Pandemic, you waited in the car at your GP practice until you were called & a similar procedure at the vet’s. Now, thats all changed & you just enter the building, yet cases are the highest they have ever been! So more delays ahead for sure.
Hi@Jude13 yes, I realised after I re read your post and I completely agree its so disheartening.I am on
The waiting list for minor ops which probably wont happen this year all down to covid ,you’ve have had your blood tests so thats a bonus .It does feel very strange just going around now as before but Im still being careful .You mentioned the vets ?I’m curious …
Have a good eve and thanks for your reply.
Bannanacake
Any news @Jude13 yet ?
Hi Erica,
No results as yet. They did say the blood results were taking longer & I suppose with the bank holiday now, it will take even more time.
I have the consultant on the 21st which for some reason I thought was Wednesday but it’s actually Thursday. I have not received any confirmation through the post/email regarding this appointment so will ring first thing to check but it’s happened a few times before. Since all the working from home began, they don’t seem to bother very much sending confirmation.
You are right @Jude13 the bank hols slow everything down plus people having Covid.
I am glad I am not the only one to confuse days and dates, yes, it is always worth checking things out.
Anyway please let us know how you get on, look after yourself
Any news @Jude13, I’ve been thinking about you.
I still only get telephone appointments and haven’t had a face to face with a doctor for over 2 years. Given that there are control measures in place at both my GP and my hospital, I don’t think it’s justified any longer. It is strange though that Covid isn’t reported any longer on the news so it’s difficult to get an accurate picture of the current situation and ministers give off mixed messages. Good luck with those test results @Jude13 . Hope it all works out.
