Hello everyone, Thank you for the gift of this forum. I have been reading since last year but joined this morning
My daughter (11) was diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) m5 last year. She completed 4 cycles of chemo and 1 cycle of lumbar puncture. Latest bma confirms she is in remission and last mrd shows less than 5 percent of blasts. However, she started having skin rashes after the 3rd cycle, rash cleared up when she started the 4th cycle and they came back again after the 4th cycle. We have been told to use olive oil and Vaseline but it keeps getting worse. She also complaints of body pain from time to time. Please has anyone experienced this? Thank you
Oh @Deduna thank you so much for having the courage to post, you are now part of our forum family.
I hope others can help with their experiences.
Personally I think it is really important that your daughter and you as her carer work closely with her medical team and ensure they know when symptoms are appearing, getting worse etc,
I cannot imagine what the last year has been like for you both and as a parent not being able to make your daughter better, that feeling of powerlessness, with all your caring and parental feelings mixed in.
I expect you are exhausted emotionally, psychologically, physically and practically.
I realise it is so important to look after yourself as well as you look after your daughter.
We are here for you as is the Blood Cancer UK support line on 0808 2080 888.
Be kind to and really look after yourselves and please do keep posting
Thank you so much Erica it has been an overwhelming journey for the entire family but we are keeping faith alive and taking it one day at a time.
Absolutely, we are working closely with her medical team. We will be going in for another review on Tuesday. Thank yku so much for your response and kind words. God bless you
