New Bone Lesions, No Paraproteins, Myeloma

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while!

I’m now post stem transplant 7 months and have been ‘in remission’ from Multiple Myeloma with undetectable paraproteins, yippee!

However, a recent MRI of my spine, done through the Emergency Dept when I was being checked for something else, revealed 2 new bone lesions - one at the top and one at the bottom. I was gutted. The doctors confirmed they were new as they compared older scans from the time of my diagnosis.

So, obviously this was of huge concern, it was passed to my haematology team immediately and I was counting the days until my appointment (I’m still monitored monthly).

Yesterday the day finally arrived and I went along so delighted that I’d hear at last what’s been going on or what their plan is, but to my utter disappointment the doctor (not my consultant, but one of his team) had never heard of these new lesions. I updated him, and he then read from the scan report how it said ‘lesions in keeping with myeloma’ as if it was no big deal. I had to explain they weren’t there before!! He then had a look at previous scans and said he’d have to take it to a higher level for discussion. So now I wait again…

I’ve had desperate shoulder pain for many weeks now, which I fear is coming from the new lesion on the top of my spine (C6). Thankfully I had an MRI of my shoulder area done today (I’ve had the pain for about 10 weeks and have reported it a few times) so maybe that will help give a bigger picture, pardon the pun.

Anyhow, that’s my rant, lol.

I just needed to offload with people who understand!

I hope you’re all doing as best you can.

Take care
Emma

You are also in a lot of pain which must be very draining.
