Hi. Just summoned up the strength to write something.
I think I’ve been in denial that this is happening to me.
I have recently been diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL).
This is on top of other chronic health issues.
I had to give up work a couple of years back as I have chronic fatigue as well.
I’m a very creative person; I love art and ceramics, but I’m feeling more and more isolated.
It’s hard to feel any motivation for the things I love, when I have no energy to do them.
I’m a sociable person, and finding life hard spending so much time at home in my own during the daytime.
It would be nice to chat to others in a similar situation.
Hi @Ali777 welcome, you are never alone on our forum.
It does take courage to post on here, thank you so much for having the strength to post.
I also have have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and I was diagnosed 20 years ago and I have always been on active monitoring (watch and wait).
Since I was diagnosed I also have ‘collected’ several other chronic conditions.
Yes, motivation is a problem, but I have found I feel so much better for a bit of fresh air and appropriate exercise. I smile at everyone and some smile back, some don’t.
I actually need the social interaction of a coffee and laugh with a friend
I’ll be honest if I stayed indoors I could rapidly get hooked on daytime telly or radio, a bit like Covid isolation times.
It sounds as if you know yourself, you have taken the first step by posting on here and you have said that you are sociable and love art and ceramics, what a good start.
The Blood cancer UK support line is there for you on 0808 2080 888
Really be kind to yourself and look after yourself, I look forward to hearing more about you so please do keep posting.
Hi @Ali777
I too have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) , I was diagnosed last September and it was a scary enough diagnosis on its own but to have other health issues must make it doubly difficult!
Welcome to the forum , I have found it really helpful and people are unerringly kind supportive and positive on here so please keep posting.
I love to be creative and sew and sketch so sharing some chat on projects would be very welcome and appreciated, my family are not always receptive to my “creative endeavours “
Take very good care and keep us updated x
Hi @Ali777.
Well done for taking the brave step to post. It’s really hard sometimes because when you do it makes it all feel more real. However, it’s so important that you get the support you need and on the forum, you can say how it really is for you.
It must be really tough because you sound like such a sociable person. Are there any local support groups you could attend. I know it’s hard to motivate yourself to get out but perhaps it would help?
@Erica has given you the support line information. It may help to talk things through.
Please keep posting. We are all here to listen and support you X
Hi,
Well you are in very good company. There are many people who are members of BC uk who have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL).
I’m Moira and I have had Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) for 12.5 years. Im on my 4th clinical trial, and have been on treatments since diagnosed. Ok I’ve had my ups and downs with infection, but my life is full, and i work at keeping it that way. Get involved with BC uk. Ive been on a number of patient groups and i am also involved with other tyes of groups. I call my Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) “the univited guest” and it has to behave itself!! I’m not saying its good to have been diagnosed with it, but there are lots of treatments if and when needed which are not as aggressive as they used to be. Don’t forget there’s something new round every corner. Take care and there’s so many folk here to share this journey. Xxx
Hi @moiragp24 a great big welcome, what a great post.
You sound such a great asset to the blood cancer community.
Yes, research, trials and treatments are coming on leaps and bounds aren’t they.
Really look after yourself and I look forward to hearing more from you
