No Place Like Home

Last week down at the Transplant Centre in Glasgow for 1 year Post Transplant Review.

Lovely walk around the West End of Glasgow.

Enjoyable couple of days with my Nephew, his wife and my Great Niece and Nephew.

Out walking this morning in the sunshine this morning reminded me there’s no place like home.

A few photos which will hopefully lift your spirits whatever you’re dealing with today.

Really calm day here @2DB so all that could hear were the waves rolling in and out.

Nature is as you say really healing

Looks so lovely there @DuncanB, very peaceful indeed and such gorgeous colours! What a brilliant treat at perhaps a worrying time.

I hope the review went well. Congratulations on your anniversary Duncan, and may I just say I’m very glad you’re here a year later.

Hi @Duncan

Yes beautiful colours as you say.

While walking back home today got phone call from Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Transplant centre to say blood results from the bloods they did at appointment last week all good.

So a very good bit of news

Where are you based @judesadventures if you don’t mind me asking.

It’s been a while since I was able to be down in the central belt and able to enjoy quality time

Oh that’s incredible Duncan, what excellent news!!! Couldn’t ask for better results, I’m really pleased for you. Bet your wife and other loved ones are too. I hope you can now let go of any breaths you’ve been holding in expectantly! Don’t forget to celebrate :shortcake: :violin: :clinking_beer_mugs:

It’s definitely very positive news for sure @Duncan.

Still some ongoing stuff to deal with like getting my iron levels down to the level they would like.

Similar with CD4 counts which are not quite where would like them to be.

Yes will be having a bit of celebration at the weekend as its my wife’s birthday :birthday_cake:

I won’t be making her a nursery class birthday card like last year when I was in hospital for transplant

Hahaha but why not, handmade mementoes are the best :love_letter:

I’m sure correcting iron levels will be simple compared to what you’ve endured, can’t say I know what CD4 counts are though. In my case, I had to stop eating so much of my favourite leafy greens like spinach to bring/keep my iron levels lower.

Bet it’ll be many happy returns for you both this weekend, enjoy it after all your efforts!

They have me on monthly venesection to get iron levels down and already shifted a lot in the right direction since day 100 review.

CD4 blood test is all about immunity. Still lower than they would like.

Have said if could get two consecutive tests at a level they’re happy with can stop another couple of pills.

All in all very pleased with progress this far

Small world @judesadventures

I was born and grew up in Coatbridge. Moved to Edinburgh in early 20s for a couple of years then 34 years in Brighton and Hove.

My wife grew up in Golspie and we decided to move back in 2022.

Diagnosis with Myelofibrosis not part of the early retirement plan but have nothing but praise for the Haematology Team at Raigmore Hospital.

Hope all good with you
