PV and tattoos, can we or not?

Hi all, I have a few tattoos and do plan on having more, is there any reason now that I have been diagnosed with Polycythaemia Vera that I can’t?

Hi, this is a good question to ask and I am not a medical person and I think this is a question for your medical team who know you and your medical history. Personally I have been told because of my compromised immune system that, providing I ensure my dental hygiene, I should not even see the dental hygienist. Good luck and let us all know your outcome.

Thanks Erica, I am planning to do so, and I have spoken to the tattoo people as well who are gonna check re their insurance and so forth.

Good thinking, it sounds as if they are responsible tattoo people. What did you want to have tattooed and where?

Well as there is no medi alert bracelet for PV I was thinking thi
PV
JAK 2+
NO FE

I wear a medi alert necklace around my neck, I found the bracelet got in the way and made a clink noise when I touched it on things. I have a collection of things wrong with me and you are allowed so many letters on each line to be engraved. I have filled every character space. I like to get my money’s worth !!!

I already wear a couple of bracelets, so the clinking does not bother me. But I also like tattoos, so seemed like a plan!!!

Let us know if you find an answer @Tylerjack from looking online I can’t see much information one way or the other, hopefully your CNS or a specialist nurse will have some more insight. We’re very pleased you’re here and find the forum useful. Hopefully you find the MPN thread a useful place to chat!

Hi Erica, the Tattoo people are now reluctant as they want more info on immune system and recovery/healing. So at the mo it’s a no.
