Hi @KevM, Interesting to read other people’s stories and experiences. Travelling with Polycythaemia vera (PV) should not be a problem if you are just on a drug treatment regime - I have had 6 week trips from the UK to both New Zealand and Australia with no problems. If you are relying on venesection then I imagine that would be more difficult to manage, although those that need frequent dialysis for kidney problems are able to access in-country treatment centres when travelling so maybe venesection might also be possible.
If you decide to go ahead don’t forget to declare the condition and your treatments when you take out your travel insurance - there are some specialist companies out there if your mainstream providers ask for silly money or just decline to offer cover.
@Erica just had blood test results and my total white cell count as almost doubled to 27.95 should I be worried

Hello again @djleighp, sorry to read that your spleen is enlarged. Apparently this is pretty common with Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) like Polycythaemia vera (PV). My haematologist told me that sometimes with Polycythaemia vera (PV) our spleens can start producing blood cells, which enlarges them. Treatment should help shrink your spleen again. Hopefully your specialists reassured you of this!
Well I’m in sunny sharm el sheikh for week to forget about everything just to relax and it’s been nice 21 degrees
