I had my Moderna Spikevax vaccine (6th booster) a couple of weeks ago and had quite a bad reaction to it, similar to previous reactions to Pfizer vaccine - excruciating pain in head, joints and all limbs on the second evening and then symptoms improved.
Had flu vaccine yesterday- never had bad reaction to these in the past, just a sore arm or a bit achy. Had awful night with shivers, excruciating pain in head and joints. Although symptoms have significantly improved today, still got a headache, achy limbs and fatigue.
Just wondering if others have had bad reactions? I am severely immunocompromised following FCR chemotherapy in 2018 and currently neutrophils, Hb and platelets have dropped significantly, so I don’t know whether they may have any baring on the reactions.
Hi there.
Hope you start feeling better soon
I had a bad reaction to one with those kind of symptoms you have.
Was all good after a week or so.
Probably a good sign in a way as it means your immune system is still battling away.
That said if it lingers keep an eye on it.
All the best👍
Thanks Leefer.
I was taken by surprise with the reaction to the flu vaccine, as I have had numerous flu vaccines in the past without any reaction! I’m sure I will bounce back, slowly but surely.
The more vaccines I had the tougher the night of the jab and arm has been. But though I was doubting my decision when I broke into sweats and temp went to 39.5 and then getting shivers and getting more and more concern the next day and night I was definitely feeling a lot better.
I’m more cautious about this 6th jab and it being just over 3 months this since my 5th but will have a chat with my med team what’s the best course of action.
Hi @Gillian281 I have had my flu vaccine and like you I have been having them for years without symptoms.
Not nearly like your experience @Gillian281 @Leefer and @Rammie18 but I had a really itchy arm for at least a week afterwards.
My surgery is still awaiting it’s Covid vaccines, although I could easily get one via the NHS booking, but I like to keep it all under my brilliant surgery.
Look after yourselves.
Hi @Gillian281 @Leefer @Rammie18 I will copy your post to the Blood Cancer UK nurse advisors for their information @BloodCancerUK_Nurses
Hello @Gillian281
So sorry to hear that you have reacted badly to the vaccines, but it’s good to hear you have had them.
I hope that you are feeling better now.
It is very odd how some people have reactions and others less so. I would encourage anyone that has had a reaction to any vaccine or treatment to report it: Yellow Card | Making medicines and medical devices safer (mhra.gov.uk) It’s quite an easy form to fill in online.
And as @Leefer has suggested, keep an eye on things and let your GP or Haematology team know if your side effects persist.
Do take good care of yourself.
Best wishes, Heidi.
I,there had same problem with my 5th jab.not sur or not to have my 6th.will seek advice.
Hi @Gillian281 I had Moderna last Monday and had exactly the same reaction. My head was in really bad pain on the Tuesday as we;ll as my having flu like symptoms. I too had had Pfizer on my three previous jabs with the same effect more or less though the head pain was much worse this time. I never had any reaction to Astra Zeneca when I had that. My side effects only really lasted a day. I felt a bit weak on the second day but it had mostly passed and I was ok on the Thursday after my two days off work were over…
I just hope the Covid and flu vaccines are actually giving us some protection. I am rather weary of wearing masks and having to be so careful to avoid potentially crowded places and people who just get so close!
I had 6th covid jab a couple of weeks ago. Moderna this time. Previous 5 were pizher. No significant effects from ant apart from sore arm. I had flu jab a week layer and have felt so tied since having it. I only started hsving thr flu jab since the pandemic even tbough i had been advised to have it. Last year i had the flu jsb snd pneumonia at the same time. It made me really ill. I was in bed for 2 days with high temperature and flu like symptoms.
Just hope they are giving me some immunity. I caught covid earlier this year despite all the jabs.
I’m sorry to hear you have had such an uncomfortable reaction. I do hope the effects subside.
I had the new Spikevax and had a day of headaches, extreme tiredness and shivering. Mostly gone by the next day but fatigue lasted longer. I just hope that these reactions mean our bodies have responded! But who knows. My flu vaccine made my arm sore and again I felt very weary.
I am so sorry you had to deal with so much pain.
