@Sisi Hi Sisi
Thanks for your support, I was very surprised it turned out so well, just hope it carries on and doesn’t trend down
Best wishes unclejack.
@Unclejack Try & stay in the moment with this positive news. I know that’s not easy to do but it’s great to hear your encouraging news. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Best wishes xx
@Erica @ChrissyD
Hi folks
Received bone marrow biopsy results.
Immunophenotyping normal. No further action
Full blood count Abnormal as expected
Malignant haem cytogenic report normal no further action.
Bone marrow trephine satisfactory no further action.
Bone marrow aspirate satisfactory. No further action .
Sounds very technical but consultant said remarkable. Hope they made no mistakes and didn’t accidentally give me another patients results!
Erica, how are you? I hope you have recovered from your horrendous fall!
Best wishes unclejack.
You are officially ‘remarkable’ @Unclejack, I hope you get that in writing so you can frame it.
You show so clearly what so many of us do with good news and our minds won’t believe it and worry about their being mistakes or having the wrong results!!!
Oh, I am bouncing back thanks @Unclejack, but my Parkrun (walk) days are over.
I think a celebration is in order for you.
@Unclejack Great to hear!
Hi @Unclejack @Sisi @Erica and @Lyndam
So glad to hear your good news about your recent test results @Unclejack. Hope you can stop worrying for a while now.
I’ve been a bit quiet lately -partly because we went on a little break to Devon but also because I’ve picked up the most horrendous chest infection! It started just before we went away but I thought I was on top of it. Sadly not and my temperature has been slowly cranking up and I dread going to bed each night as I spend the whole night coughing and consequently getting next to no sleep! I managed to get an emergency appointment at a very nice GP practice on Monday. Confirmed I have chest infection and prescribed Amoxicillin. I’m a bit worried as it doesn’t seem to have improved anything yet and my temp is still going up. I’m barely eating anything. We have managed to have a few outings to outside places (wouldn’t want to pass this on!). My husband has been doing all the cooking and chores.
We’re travelling back tomorrow and I’m dreading the 7.5 hour journey! Just hoping that the amoxicillin kicks in and that it was the right choice! I have no idea where I picked this up from -except our youngest grandchild did have a fever and a suspected strep infection a couple of days after I babysat so that seems a possibility? Still, looking on the bright side, this is only the 3rd time in 17 years of Chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) that I’ve needed antibiotics so I shouldn’t complain!
I missed your post about your faint/fall @Erica. You are in the wars lately. Hope you’re soon back to full fitness. Have you had any more news about your diagnosis?
Well that’s my tale of woe! I hope I’ll be able to report a full recovery very soon!
@ChrissyD Oh! So sorry to hear you’ve been so poorly. I know I won’t be the only one to wish you a speedy recovery
Hoping your journey back home will be a good one for you. And you can rest up after that. I’m sure the amoxicillin will do its thing & you’ll feel more like yourself soon. Sending lots of healing hugs to you
Keep us posted when you can. Lots of love xxxx
@Sisi
Hi Sisi thanks for your support. As Erica says the elation of a good result soon gives way to doubts, have the doctors sent a result meant for somebody else etc. Received CT scan results. Very good. Several cysts on right kidney and a liver cyst. Which are harmless had them for many years, 3 mm kidney stone on left kidney. No swollen lymph nodes. All these tests were carried out due to drenched in sweat for several weeks at night . They stopped just as I had the scan, probably caused by anxiety. Now my OCD will drag me back to the computer to get a translation to the technical description.
Best wishes unclejack.
@ChrissyD
Wow we all seem to be in the wars recently. I luckily have not had antibiotics for three years just has first Chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) symptoms arrived. I really hate the Idea of taking them in case they effect my immune system which has quite honestly been great at present. Had my first minor cold in three years last January so got away with it up to now. I know antibiotics are life savers but still scared of taking them. I keep my Vit D topped up and hope for the best. I also keep thermometer and oxygenation metre handy just in case I do get a infection. I hope you soon recover and return to normal, you will have plenty to do on your garden!
Best wishes unclejack.
@Unclejack It sounds like your body has had a really good MOT The nights sweats sounded horrible. And yes, I know what you mean. It’s easy to be hard wired into looking for the worst outcome. I can remember listening to a psychiatrist online ( when my husband was first diagnosed ) & she was discussing how are brains are hardwired into surviving & wanting to protect us…hence fearing the worst! I’ve started limiting myself as to what I’m researching online now. There’s only so much my brain can handle
I hope you’re able to enjoy the lovely weather at the moment. Best wishes to you
Hi ChrissyD
Sorry to hear you are not feeling so good. Sending well wishes and hugs to you, and hope you are soon on the mend. Not very nice to be ill when you are away from home, as you probably can’t wait to get back. Lyndam
Oh @ChrissyD how miserable for you.
There are certainly times when I want to be in my own bed.
Yes, I also try and avoid antibiotics, but there are some situations where I really need them.
I really hope that your journey goes as smoothly as possible.
I should get my results next week and will let you all know then.
Thinking of you loads and sending hugs. xxxx
Thanks to all for your kind thoughts.
Hi @ChrissyD @Erica I hope you’re managing to enjoy some of the sunny weather? And Chrissy, really hope you’re recovering ok? Just a quick update. Had follow up appt with local hospital today with regard to Dan Wiseman’s recommendations from last month. All went well & have agreed to watch & wait. Next blood test & follow up in June , with another bone marrow biopsy end of July. So all ok at the moment. Best wishes to you both & take care xx
That’s good news @Sisi hopefully you can relax a bit now.
Really look after yourself and please do keep posting
@Erica Thank you. I hope all is ok with you. Sending you a hug if you’d like one
xx
That’s really good news Simone and I’m so so pleased that your husband is now on a much less invasive pathway than what was being suggested for him originally. I do wonder if you hadn’t asked for a hold and taken further advice where he would be now?!Maybe having intensive treatment that wasn’t clinically indicated, as Dan Wiseman suggested? It’s never certain where this particular disease will go but, if people are not getting any bothersome symptoms, surely there is an argument to “wait and see” how the disease “behaves” itself?! Let’s hope he stays stable for a long time. xx
I’m still coughing and losing sleep and either the antiobiotics or my IBS have been playing havoc since I came back from holiday -possibly not helped by my youngest 3-year old grandchild having to be taken to A and E in Madrid as he’s had a tummy bug (on the journey of course! ) and was refusing all liquids and was very dehydrated, needing drips and a battery of tests, poor little sausage! When my children and grandchildren are on holiday abroad, I’m in a state of high anxiety until they get back! Aaagh!
Thankyou @ChrissyD And thank YOU for questioning in the first instance. Yes, we were only saying this afternoon that we would have potentially been nearly 4 months on…from the initial plan regarding treatment. Kingston were very supportive of Dan Wisemans recommendations today. So let’s hope things can stay stable, like you say.xx
Oh @ChrissyD How horrible! Your poor grandson. I hope he’s on the mend now. And hopefully now that you’re back at home, you can gradually recover too. Lack of sleep is horrible, so I hope you’re getting lots of cat naps during the day whilst you can. Speedy recovery to you & a big hug Take care xx
