Ruxolitinib

So I picked up my first course of Ruxolitinib a few days ago along with some anti sickness tablets and have just put them to one side.
Really worried about starting him as I feel fine and no symptoms. My red blood count had dropped to 75 which is why they were prescribed but after a further blood test they went up to 85. Don’t want to give myself symptoms of something like sickness if I don’t need to. Sounds churlish I know. If I felt ill would be a different matter. Seeing Chemotherapy drug written all over the box has scared the living daylights out of me.
I’m probably only putting off the inevitable but has anyone felt ill or sick taking them or is it just a rare precaution ?
Regards
Nicki

Hi @Nicki535 I cannot help you but just reading and seeing all these warnings is really scary isn’t it.
Have you got a specialist nurse, consultant or GP that you could chat your thoughts and fears with.
If so perhaps write down the things you have written on here and any other things you might like to ask and perhaps speak to them as they know your whole medical history…
However hopefully someone will be able to share their experiences of Ruxolitinib on here.
Please do let us know how you get on and really look after yourself

Thank you Erica. I’ll email the nurse again. She will be thinking I’m a right nuisance
I’ve been putting this off for the last 3 months since my red count took a dive. They can’t understand why I feel okay and have literally no symptoms at all which is great but that really makes it harder to take meds which may have side effects. I have had Myelofibrosis for 11 years. My spleen is a bit enlarged so will help with that but it doesn’t bother me. I guess the side effects may only be present for a few days whilst I get used to the meds. :woman_facepalming:
Thanks for your advice x
