The Wait & Watch is over

Again it’s over a year since my last post and seven years since my Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) was diagnosed after a routine full blood test showed a white blood cell count of 26. I’ve been on Wait & Watch for the past 2 years with regular appointments with my Consultant Haematologist, reducing to 4 monthly showing some progression of the illness in my lymph nodes and more recently in my spleen. My consultant’s review of my recent MRI and white blood cell over 200 prompted the MDT to advise it’s time for treatment. The treatment I’m being given is Zanabrutinib. It’s tablets daily, and after I complete the pre-treatment chat with the Clinical nurse next week and be given my instructions

prescription medications, I’ll commence the treatment. I must admit that having had my 80th birthday in July this year, I’m feeling somewhat relaxed at what’s to come and strangely glad I’ll no longer feel a bit of a fraud when people say I look so well.

Hello @Horsetrent

Thank you for taking time to post onto the forum, its good to hear from you.

I’m also a Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) patient, all be it I am at the very early stages of the journey having just been diagnosed earlier this year. I’m 57 and in reasonable good shape (good diet, regular gym visits and good sleep pattern).

Reading your post gave me confidence that the support structure for the condition is robust and it is good to know you are being looked after well

Take good care of yourself

Kind regards

Mike
