Chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) 4th round of Azacitidine booked for next week, platelet count on 5th August 12. He has got tooth infection started antibiotics today but dentist said tooth needs extraction. Is that too dangerous with platelets at 12 or less?
Incidentally he had a platelet transfusion on 1st August because they were at 6.

I think ask your Heamo team about this one. Mine said general checkups etc are ok, but any extractions etc need to be run past your consultant of Heamo nurse. Platelets at 12 seems very low. Hope everything turns out ok.

This is one for his his medical team.
Mine worked with my GP and dentist when I had tooth extractions and my platelets were not that low, they were all worried about infections.
