What travel insurance company have people used for travelling with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia ('CLL')
Hi @Buckeye
I have a different diagnosis and I know that insurance is something that comes up a lot.
There seems to be a few companies that appear to cover blood cancers and other pre-existing medical conditions.
Insurewith seems to get good reviews.
Staysure is another I have heard mentioned by others on the forum.
I believe Saga also covers preexisting medical conditions for over 50s
Iâm sure others will offer suggestions
Hello @Buckeye
Welcome to the forum
Thank you for taking time to send in your post
I am also a Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia ('CLL') patient (on active monitoring) and i will need to arrange travel insurance before i go away in early 2027.
I havenât had much joy to date, but i have also heard the name stay sure mentioned.
I intend to use a travel insurance comparison search engine that looks at numerous companies, perhaps âtravel supermarketâ for example.
My understanding is that the condition will (as with other blood cancers / cancers / underlying medical conditions) have an impact on the cost of the policy but i guess thatâs the way of things.
My intention is - should i find a policy that is reasonably priced with good cover - i will share my experience on here.
Take good care
Kind regards
Mike.
I have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia ('CLL') and a blood clotting issue. I am having treatment for the Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia ('CLL'). Staysure wonât insure me (aged 66, Female). I was insured with them when I was on Active Monitoring but they cancelled the annual policy that I had once I let them know that I was recommended for treatment.
The website âpaying too much .comâ is where I managed to actually get a quote for a week in Europe this year - about ÂŁ300 for a week in Spain. It requires dedication and atm I can only get trip-specific quotes.
Hello there @Feetup, welcome to the forum and thank you for that great insurance tip. Hadnât heard of PayingTooMuch, such an apt name and looks really flexible.
Sorry to read of your Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia ('CLL') diagnosis and blood clotting issue, I hope youâre getting on okay with those. Perhaps youâve already read it but hereâs the great Blood Cancer UK information about Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia ('CLL') should you fancy a read: Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) | Blood Cancer UK
Do please let us know how you get on @Feetup.
Welcome to the forum @Feetup
Itâs great to have you here, and Iâm glad youâve shared your experienceâitâs such a common hurdle for many of us.
I know exactly how frustrating it is when a company cancels a policy the moment your situation changes. Itâs a real headache having to start from scratch when youâre already dealing with the stress of starting treatment.
For what itâs worth, I managed to get insurance through Tesco at a price that didnât break the bank, so they might be worth a look if you havenât tried them yet.
Because this comes up so often, Iâd really recommend using the âsearch functionâ at the top of the forum. Over the years, members have identified quite a few different companies that are âblood cancer friendly.â A few that often get mentioned for being more flexible with active treatment are:
-AllClear** (who often partner with leukaemia charities)
-Insurancewith** (who use a more detailed medical screening to try and keep costs down)
Good luck
I am panicking that we will get away at all this year with the threatening Middle East issues and jet fuel crisis !! All the hassle to get insurance and then the holiday gets cancelled , it will be just my luck! We are due to fly via Dubai in October!!
