4th vaccine

Have just read in the Independent that the JCVI has agreed that a 2nd booster (ie. 5th jab) should be recommended for the extremely vulnerable, although they are yet to advise ministers of this.

I had wondered when we would hear this, as obviously the vaccines wear off, but the pandemic hasn’t.

Yes, I theoretically need another one soon. Happy to have them!

Hope you had a lovely holiday, @ilivesunshine. I saw you managed to get away. Much jealousy on my part - I love the sun too. Although I have to be extremely careful in the sun now, because of the chemo and Stem cell transplant. Do you? If so, how did you find managing that?

Sorry only just seen your post. We did have a lovely holiday and have just had another one! We got home on Sunday and seem to have got home unscathed despite the rules on mask wearing on the flight changing whilst we were away. Not required on the way home. We wore ours. Didnt take them off at all during the flight.
I am careful in the sun. Wear a hat and high factor sun cream. Before covid we had been going to India for winter sun as i really feel the cold here. I keep covered with lightweight blouses and trousers when walking around as well as sun cream. Sit under an umbrella.

Glad you’ve a had a good couple of holidays, @ilivesunshine - lucky thing! Yes, I feel the cold too - always have, but especially since the Stem cell transplant.

I think I will have to follow suit with the trousers/blouses and hat. Have finally had the okay to go on holiday- but have to wait now until my son’s GCSEs are out of the way. What torture!! We’re going surfing on Spain’s west coast. Well, when I say surfing, in my case it will be repeatedly tumbled underwater as if in a washing machine. But it’s what I dreamt of when in hospital - joining in with my husband and son’s passion, and not feeling daft giving it a go. I’ve finally realised life’s too short to be self-conscious.

Yes, I’ll be wearing my mask, even though we’re taking the ferry/car!

Nice to hear from you, and thanks for the tips.

Surfing sounds fabulous. We could see people surfing from our hotel balcony last week. I havent tried it since i was a child. I did attempt water skiing a few years ago but it wasnt a success. I swallowed a lot of the Carribean sea when i fell in! Have a great time and do let us know how it goes

Just remenbered i bought something called a rash top to wear for horseriding in the sea which we had planned to do before we cancelled the cruise. Might be worth you having a look. The fabric has some sort of protection from the sun in it.

Ha ha, your attempt at water-skiing sounds like mine!
Yes, I must look into a rash vest - thank you, I had forgotten about them. I do have a wetsuit, but although other people in Spain wear them, I’d rather be less ‘throttled’. I live in Cornwall, and could go surfing here (thus the wetsuit) but…cold!!!
