Hi @Linda29 snd a big welcome to the forum.
I have a different blood cancer but I know there are others on here who will be able to share their experiences.
It’s sounds really uncomfortable for you. Have you spoken to your medical team about it. Have they offered any advice? If not, we would always suggest letting them know of any new or worsening pain or discomfort.
How have you been doing since your diagnosis?
Nichola x
Hi Nichola thank you I haven’t mentioned it to my consultant as when I first got diagnosed he told me my aching legs had nothing to do with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) but when I’ve looked on here there is a few people who have mentioned there leg pain so now I’m wondering if it is to do with it. I’m ok actually thank you I see my consultant on the 18th of this month for my 3 month check hopefully my bloods haven’t gone up much.
Hello Linda29
I also have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)), was diagnosed in November 2024 and am on watch and wait. One of my earliest issues was pain in my legs, have never had the same sort of pain before, its usually in my thighs, which get very achey and heavy, hard to describe to people. It’s notably worse in summer. It can get so bad it’s hard to stand and do the washing up! Also a pain (literally) to walk and I’m a great walker (I must admit, I push through anyway). It’s not all the time, thankfully, but it does seem to kick off over summer for me, and then resolve somewhat. This happened in the summer before my diagnosis and this summer too, a drop in temperature is a great relief for me. I think that we need to listen to our bodies and know their ‘truth’. Not all our bodies and symptoms are represented in ‘the medical handbook’ and we all respond differently to things. Blood cancer seem to be quite diverse with many of us suffering from rather a varied cocktail of things! Anyhow, just wanted to stop by and share my experience. Oh, and also read an interview with Clive James who passed away with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)) when he was 80. He said the worst thing was experiencing ‘the heavy legs’. I really think it’s part of the illness. Take care, L x
Thank you for responding to my post I know what you mean about not been able to describe the pain mine is in side of knee down leg to ankle I also went to docs with aching legs hence blood tests and diagnosis my consultant said my aching legs have nothing to do with it but they are getting worse just had bloods done and seeing consultant next week I’m going to mention it again. I’m otherwise ok
Hello Linda
I’m so sorry to learn about your diagnosis, and thank you for posting your message in the forum. I, like you, got a Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) diagnosis earlier this year, and I found it quite a lot to take on board. I hope you are keeping in touch with your support structure, and I hope posting on here has been a positive experience for you (I’m confident it has).
You mention pain in your legs, and whilst I can’t relate to that myself, I do have a right knee that is a little painful but I think that’s just my age and perhaps because I’ve started to jog as well as walk on the treadmill at the gym. 57 year old knees and jogging don’t seem to agree (well not for me).
I’m confident your medical specialist will speak with you about any concerns / conditions you experience.
You mention sweats, and again I’m afraid I cant relate as that’s not happening to me personally.
I found reaching out and just talking with others on the forum is a good thing so again thank you for sharing your story.
I sure you will get the support you should from your medical specialists and I wish you the very best.
Take good care of yourself
Mike.
