Aspirin Entric vs Dispersable

Inhad assumed that Entric asprin would ve better for me in the longterm than dispersable. I asked my GP abut this who disagreed. A quick bit of research latter and it would appear dispersible is more effective at thinning the blood and if taken with food mmay not be anymore impactful on the stomach.
I have also read that taking at night may be be more effective. Is there any wisdom/ advice on this please

Dear @DougyW
Really interesting post, may I ask whether you’ve been able to ask your pharmacy about the efficacy of both formulas of Aspirin? I would suggest that toleration of Aspirin is key to the individual. Do you have any issues in taking the drug?
It would be very interesting to hear others thoughts about this and I will also keep an eye our for any information.
Kind regards
Gemma

I wasn’t told by my Haemotologist or gp when was best to take dispersable aspirin but my cardiologist said it was best to take with my breakfast which agrees with what you’ve been told.

Hct levels seems to be well controlled at mo (touchwood)

I have been on Asprin for 15 months of which the ladt 9 has been dispersible. Ive not had any issue’s but have decided to swap and change between the 2 formats to try and manage any build up of issues.
I haven’t asked my pharmacist about efficasy so will do that. Ive read reports from thr NHS and Mayo clinic that says there is evidence dispersable is better at managing blood pressure in cardio. Im guessing it would be the sam for Polycythaemia vera (PV),

Hi @DougyW . I take aspirin and the dispersible is usually given with a stomach protecting drug. Eg. Omaprezole. This can add to drug side effects for some. This aspirin dissolves in the stomach and can over time cause stomach bleeds if taken on its own. The enteric coated aspirin dissolves in the colon, therefore bypassing the stomach. My haematologist thinks that either type of aspirin is just as effective. The enteric coating varies, and some types can cause allergic reactions to some. Both types are better taken after food and not on an empty stomach. Hope this information is helpful for you.
