Awaiting or considering or had a stem cell transplant, a place to share here

Thanks Danmar, home now. It wasn’t too bad. Although I hadn’t realised they were actually taking bone today  so plenty of deep breathing. Just got to get through teeth out on Friday and then I can relax a little.
I am feeling well atm, people keep saying how well I look. It’s all going on inside I suppose, well apart from my hair and puffy eyes  . My hair is growing, I look like dumbo as it’s just on top and fluffy :joy:. My consultant has said I will lose it all though during transplant :woman_shrugging:t2:.

Hi @Summertime and all the lovely people. Well a disappointing consultation today :pensive: bloods have gone down a bit but not enough so another 28 day cycle of Chemo for me. I’m glad you got over your biopsy @Summertime and never mind about the teeth and hair there’ll be better days ahead for them. Getting you transplant is the big one!!! I’m sure you look good but what’s inside that counts. I hate when people say” but you look great “ :rage::rage:. I want to scream…. But I guess people really don’t know the right thing to say. I just have to take this disappointing result on the chin and plod on  Wishing everyone well xxxx

Hi @Danmar. I’ve used the phrase ‘plodding on’ a bit lately. That really is how it feels sometimes isn’t it. I’m sorry your bloods aren’t what you wanted and needed them to be. Hope the next chemo does what it is supposed to X

Hi @Summertime I am glad that you have had your biopsy and got it out of the way and I will be thinking of you having your teeth out on Friday.
You have said my pet hate, when people say how well you look, I know they just do not know what to say.
Really look after yourself.

Oh Danmar, that’s so disappointing for you, after all the chemo too:pleading_face:. Keep keeping on, that’s all we can do and just hope things will come right in the end. None of us chose this, we just have to do our best :relaxed:. What chemo are you on and can you be at home? Xx

Hi lovely forum people, sounds like everyone has their own issues at the moment. @Danmar, how frustrating that you need a bit more chemo. It sounds as though the newest meds have been more difficult to tolerate too, all for the purpose.:confounded: take care of yourself and just keep thinking it will be worth it in the end.
@Summertime, glad you got through the biopsy, good luck for the tooth extraction. Dumbo’s cute anyway although I hope your ears aren’t big enough to be able to fly to the hospital  or you might need to book in for pinning those ears back. Love to @ChrisCKW, thinking of you and wishing you super speedy recovery. Thankyou @Erica , @Nichola75 for your best wishes. Ps my neutrophils are climbing, now at 0.38 :grinning: and feeling ok xx

Hi @Lyn99 when I had my son I was alone in Germany and my (first) husband was in the army and away on active duties. When he first saw my son a few weeks later I was so proud of my baby I had produced and the first thing he said was that he ears weren’t the same and stuck out, I was so upset.
Anyway when my son was 7yrs old he had them pinned back and on his first day back at school his teacher told him to sit down and must had touched his ear and did it bleed, his teacher was mortified.
I was working in a laboratory at the time and took my son up to the hospital in my white coat, now covered in blood, and we kept on being ignored as the medical staff thought I was a doctor. Perhaps I wasn’t assertive enough then.
Look after yourself and those neutrophils and keep posting.

Hi all, I had sepsis for a week, and temp spiking to 41, but got my SC donations on tues and Weds 11 and 12 (I think)
The nausea has been dreadful and they couldn’t find the right mix to control it; but all much better past couple of days. (Hospital food isn’t the most attractive of things to eat when you are poorly)
Water and tea still taste very odd so lots of different drinks squashes juices to try is good idea)
My hair hung on for ages and I only had it shaved yesterday.
Summertime dr Crawley is so lovely - he will really look after you.
@Danmar @Lyn99 wishing you well and sending hugs.
Right if I manage Friday jukebox it will be tomorrow. Hugs and happy weekend xxx

Oh @ChrisCKW it sounds as if you have had a really rough time of it.
It must have been traumatic having your head shaved too.
The Friday Jukebox is there for you to dip in and give your contributions if you feel up to it, it’s not the same without you.
We have all been thinking about you loads and sending you so much love.

Oh ChrisCKW I suspected your were not doing so well. At least the worst is over for you hopefully. Did they try the kynso sickness med? It is supposed to be the best.
How has the WiFi been? And visitors?
Keep going and hopefully you will start to feel better soon.
I have met Dr C, yes he is lovely.
Lots of strength and good stuff being sent your way xxx

My teeth extraction went ok today, actually painless apart from the numbing injections and a bit of pushing and pulling.:grimacing:. My picc however was a different story. The nurse said oh that will be out in a few minutes. Me completely numb mouth so could hardly speak:tired_face:. She started to tug at the picc and it was agony! I ended up in the vascular dept to have it out with local anaesthetic. Apparently it was one they are not familiar with at Addenbrookes ( was fitted in Peterborough). Anyway all done now.
Feeling drained and bit fed up now but tomorrow is a new day.
On a brighter note I have no more appts until 2nd sept so I can switch off from it all.
Night night everyone xxx

Oh @Summertime what a day you had and you must have overdosed on anaesthetic.
I expect that you are feeling rather sore and sorry for yourself today, really spoil yourself today and when you think of a job that needs doing just think how important is it.
The old fashioned word is cosset yourself. xxx
