Hi there, for the last couple of months I have, for the first time in my 62 years, been unable to keep food down due to bloating, regurgitation and water brash if I eat even small amounts. This is coupled with excruiating joint pain in just about every joint in my body, again this is something Ive never experienced. I have no other symptoms. I had a bone marrow biopsy in March and this showed Tet2 and Srsf2 problem so had a Pet scan last week and awaiting results. Have lost 10 kilos, very weak and painkillers arent really helping so Im pretty exhausted. Im trying not to speculate but hoping this is something autoimmune and not leukaemia. Any positive and/or informative comments welcomed, thanks
Oh @CathyP welcome, reading your post I am really feeling that I would immediately get in touch with my GP or 111 or go to A&E (if it is nothing contagious) if I had been unable to keep food down for a couple of months.
I would obviously be anxious, as you sound, and that would make my conditions worse.
I will copy your post to the Blood Cancer UK nurses for you @BloodCancerUK_Nurses
Please do let us know how you get on and really look after yourself
This sounds like you’re having a tough time - I can imagine it feels very stressful.
My only comment here which I hope is helpful is that if you had a bone marrow biopsy in March, you’d likely have heard the same day or very shortly after if there were leukaemia cells present. My husband usually gets his initial view back from his consultants the same day (for acute myeloid leukaemia treatment). I hope that this is somewhat reassuring for you!
Hi Erica, thanks for reply. Have seen GP several times, they don’t seem concerned unless I absolutely cannot keep anything down. Have also spoken to Haematology consultant and he echoed this saying it would be best not to go through the stress of an A&E visit unless I am severely dehydrated. I can drink water and eat toast, crackers, anything beige and dry at a push in very small quantities. Obviously not much nutrition going in but I am trying to keep supplements down. I did try smoothies with protein powder but they just come back up as well.
